AGRICULTURE NEWS
The agriculture boys with their
instructor, Mr. Lawrence, went to
Lake Toxaway two afternoons last
week to dig potatoes on the farm
of W. H. Sutton. Several of the
boys bought seed for their agri
culture projects next year. The
boys helped to relieve a labor
shortage in digging potatoes, as
well as making extra spending mo
ney for themselves.
The home living class got some
valuable experience last week in
pruning apple trees. They visited
at the home of Mrs. G. H. Wood
ard and pruned two trees.

SENSE AND NONSENSE
Here’s hoping everyone has for
gotten about the Hallowe’en pranks
and of course that means having
returned all the gates, lawn chairs,
etc., that mysteriously disappeared.
At least, this column hasn’t dis
appeared, so stop looking so wist
ful!!
Now, Bamey. Dignified seniors j
should never play such pranks, |
even on Hallowe’en. How many |
watch dogs did “your crowd” have
to knock out during your “little
raid” Saturday night.
Bang! Bang! Yes, you’ve guessed
it. Harold 0. and Herb. H. are
having one of those dreadful feuds.
Over whom? ,W-e-l-l. I know
warning signs when I see them,
so I’ll omit all names. But just
as an innocent tip, she’s a junior.
Some (just some) of these
freshmen gals are a wee bit shy
but old timers can always spot a
romance in bud. Norma K. has a
very tender look in her eyes when
she looks at Joe D.
If you’ve been wondering why
Elaine 0. has been so starry eyed
and wearing such a dreamy ex
pression all week, I’ll solve the
mystery. It’s just leaked out who
her escort was Friday night.
Bob R. says the reason for the
big fat E he received this month
is because French is all Greek to
him.
Since she got ditched by one
sailor for (yes, you’ve guessed it)
a blonde during his furlough, Mad
rie G. has been setting her cap for
every sailor in sight. I hear she
just invited four for supper one
night. Boy, that’s really trying!!!
(Next time, M. G., be careful whom
you write about in your column.)
“No letter today,” sings Conrad
W. mournfully since Dottie W.
left. Very pitiful, isn’t he? I sup
pose those dazzling bracelets he’s
wearing on either arm belong to
his - eh, sister. Could be, eh,
Conrad?
Rattle! Bang! Gangway! Here
come two dashing bus drivers
and their girls in their A model.
Bonnie B. and R. M. D. and that
couple of the new whirlwind ro
mance, Betty R. and Bill G.
“There’s Something About A
Soldier” ... I mean bus driver
is the latest song hit, it seems.
Say, what goes with the junior1
play? Hasn’t some new romance
started as is the custom. Can’t
someone spill the dope on this
subject to ease our curiosity?
Ho-hum! Hey, don't go to sleep
listening to me! Just for that I’ll
ease your mind and sign off, but
don’t worry. I’ll be back soon with
news right off the press.

Is Your
REFRIGERATOR RELAXING?
Your Electric Refrigerator must
last for the duration. Help it to do
the best job possible by giving
it a little care. You'll save serious
trouble later and you'll get much
better all-around performance.
Here's How to Keep It Running!
• Defrost according to manufacturer's
instructions. Empty the drip water im
mediately. •
• Wash the inside of your*, refrigerator
with baking soda and wahir each time
the refrigerator is defrosted. Don't for
get the freezer—that's where food odors
collect.
• Avoid overloading the refrigerator with
food—it stops necessary air circulation.
• Be sure the cold control is set as it
should be to give you the proper food
compartment temperature.
• If you have an open type mechanism
in your refrigerator, it will need periodic
oiiing and adjusting. Have a reliable
serviceman do this and ask him about
how often it should be repeated. Her
metically-sealed units do not require
oiiing or adjusting. MOST mechanisms
should have occasional cleaning. Con
sult your serviceman.
