Large Crowd Saw College Defeat Brevard High Thanksgiving Day Ticket Sales Amounted Te Around $130. College Won 20 To 6 \ In an interesting and exciting Turkey day football classic here last Thursday afternoon, Brevarc college defeated Brevard high 2( to 6. Despite playing against a heaviej team, the local high school boys fought hard and a large crowd oi fans enjoyed the game. The ticket sales amounted tc around $130.00. McCall, the college’s fast quart erback, made a'touchdown in the first period. On a long end run, Fleming went over for a second talley in the second period and Brannon scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The high school scored when Fullback McDonald touched a punted ball and Bill Barton fell on it across the goal line. This was the final game of the college season, but Brevard plays Biltmore high in a return engage ment at Biltmore tomorrow after noon. The first game ended in a 7 to 7 tie. Fortnightly Club Has Good War Sales The Brevard Fortnightly club, in sales of war stamps and bonds last Saturday in the business dis trict, sold a total of $331.20, of which amount $250.00 was in bonds and $81.20 in stamps, ac cording to a report from Mrs. W. M. Melton, who was in charge of the sale. This was the regular fourth Saturday war sales con ducted by the Women’s Civic club, which has a different club to sponsor the sale each fourth Sat urday. Ann Zachary and Ruth Gaines were particularly active in the sale, the two young Scouts sell ing $125.00 worth of bonds. Seaman DeBrabant was credited with four out of eight enemy planes, thus saving from destruc tion one fleet of PT boats. He has been stationed at Great Lakes, 111., and Gulfport, Miss., and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. C. DeBrabant, of Brevard. Library Fund Drive Is Continuing Well The Women’s Civic club is con tinuing its drive for securing a county library, but in order to qualify for the state apportion ment of $1,125.00 for this purpose, a contribution of $480.00 must be obtained locally, it was announced yesterday by Mrs. Oliver Orr, chairman of the drive and presi dent of the Women’s Civic club. The town will give one-third of the $480.00, the county one-third, and the women's club one-third. In order to secure more books for the library, the local commit tee hopes to raise an additional $500.00, and a canvass for this amount is underway this week in the business section. Any one interested in contribu ting toward this fund is asked to contact Mrs. Orr or any member of the committee or leave the money at The Times office. TIMES BOWLERS WIN The Times bowling team won three games Tuesday night from the R. C. Cola players of Asheville on the Centennial alleys here. In dividual scores were: Reynolds, 480; Dunne, 468; Simpson, 486; Luper, 492, and Bridges, 554. Scouts and college young ladies assisted the Fortnightly club mem bers last Saturday.
