Jimmie Brown, little son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Brown, was rather
badly hurt last week when the bi
cycle he was riding hit a rock and
threw the boy on his head against
a rock. He was knocked uncon
scious. His mother carried him to
the Transylvania community hos
pital for treatment, and he showed
no fractured bones but only a
concussion from which he can re
cover in a few days. He was re
leased from the hospital Friday.
Arthur Griffin, who has been
living on Mr. Reeves’ place here,
has moved to somewhere near En
ka.
James .Griffin, son of J. A.
Griffin, left here last week for an
army camp.
Miss Jaqueline McCall spent the
week-end with her aunt here, Mrs.
T. S. Williams.
TIMES WON THREE GAMES
The Times bowling team won
three games Tuesday night in the
Tri-City league from the. Wea
ther Wings of the air corps. Total
team score was 2,620. Simpson
bowled 483, Kappers 553, Lupper
584, Straus 517 and Bridges 483.

Howard Galloway, of Rosman,
charged with assault, was sen
tenced for four months and given
a 12 months’ suspended sentence.
John Doe Alias Lige Patterson’s
car was ordered sold by the sher
iff.
Jess Chapman was given a
suspended sentence and ordered
to pay cost of court on a charge
of assault.
Howard Galloway, of Toxaway,
drew a 12 months suspended sen
tence and was ordered to pay his
stepfather, whom he had assault
ed, $25.00 and to pay hospital
bill, as well as cost of action.
The sentences against Howard
Galloway and Quentin Aiken were
changed. They were fined $50
and cost and ordered to report
to the court for 5 years.
A settlement was reached in
the case of Carrie T. Dorsett vs.
Will Rhodes and the defendant
was ordered not to cut any timber
on the plaintiff’s property. The
plaintiff was likewise ordered to
pay costs.
A consent judgment was signed
in the cast of P. E. Ratter and
wife, Reba Ratter against Mel
usina B. Barclay and the action
was dismissed.
In the case of Joe H. Tinsley
against Viola Mull English and
husband and William C. Austin,
action against Austin was dismiss
ed.
Divorces were granted to Wil
liam F. Huggins vs Pauline Gal
loway Huggins and T. G. McKil
lip vs Callie Collins McKillop.
Valley Powell drew a suspend
ed sentence on charges of non-sup
port and assault and was ordered
to turn over three-fourths of his
compensation for support of his
wife and children.
Garland Chapman was sentenced
four months for assulting a fe
male.
James Dixon Pressnell, charged
with transporting, was fined $100
and cost and the sentence was
stricken out.
Tommie Wood was fined $50 and
cost for drunk driving.
A number of cases were con
tinued.

BOY SCOUT TROOP HERE
The Bethel Baptist church here
has agreed to sponsor a colored
Boy Scout troop and a committee
composed of Arthur Benjamin,
Arthur Heffner, Charlie Smith
and Cornelius Hunt, has been
named. Charles Whitmire is now
active in geting boys interested in
joining and will probably serve
as scoutmaster.
