Norris, pres ident of the Southern explains. These magazine advertisements which reach 1,492,153 people each month tell of the contribution the South is making to help speed victory; its agricultural and com mercial growth in recent years; and the new opportunities for Southern industry and agriculture after the war is over. The Red Cross official said that the men in such “hell-holes” as New Guinea needed everything the organization could give them in way of recreation and encourage ment. He stressed the fact that there were no other agencies that were acceptable to the U. S. Army officials, and that guidance, com fort and maintenance of morale were chargeable directly to the Red Cross and from the organization to the people in America whose chance it will soon be to contribute to the cause of keeping their brothers, fathers, sons and sweet hearts from actually “going wild.” Transylvania Red Cross chapter was represented at the meeting by Jerry Jerome, Alex Kizer and C. M. Douglas. KIWANIS TO MEET Kiwanis objectives for 1944 will be the topic of discussion at the by-weekly meeting of the club to be held at the Bryant house Fri day evening at 7 o’clock.
