Clayton, in Orlando, Fla., where
she has a government position at
the Orlando air base.
Mrs. Ernest Fowler and little
daughter, Dardin, of Henderson
ville, visited the former’s mother,
Mrs. Cos Paxton, here last week.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Clayton and
children have returned to their
home in Buckhannon, W. Va., af
ter a 10-day visit here with their
sisters, Misses Jackie and Agnes
Clayton.
Miss Beatsie Moore had as sup
per guests last week Misses Ann
Sams, Margaret Clamp and Ellen
Hodgens,' counselors at Camp Bur

Moore is recovering from a tonsil
operation at the local hospital the

Mrs. Preston Taylor and chil
dren, of Belmont, were week-end
guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
B. W. Trantham. Mrs. Taylor and
daughter, Ann, were guests at the
birthday dinner of Beverly Tran
tham on Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell King and
children have moved back to make
their home in Brevard from Oak
Ridge, Tenn. They are now occu
pying the Michael apartment on
Park avenue extension.

in Greenville, S. C., spent the

Miss Wilna Walton, of Atlanta,
Ga., is expected to arrive this week
to spend a week here with her sis
ter, Mrs. T. E. Reid, and Mr. Reid.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester J. Thomas

Frank Tinsley here the past week.

daughter, Jill Ellsworth, on June
24 at Mission hospital. Mrs. John
ston is the former Ruth Perry,
daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Harry
Perry, of Brevard. Lt. Johnston is
now in active duty in the Pacific.
Little David Johnston spent two
weeks with his grandparents, Rev.
and Mrs. Perry.
Lt. Eugene M. Morris, of Lin
coln army air field, Lincoln, Nebr.,
is on a 15-day leave here visiting
his aunt, Mrs. J. S. Nicholson, and
family.
Mrs. Rosalie M. Combs and small
son, William, are visiting the for
mer’s mother-in-law, Mrs. William
Combs, in Whitesburg, Ky.

Funeral Held Tues.
For Mrs. Earl Hall
Funeral service was held Tues
day afternoon at the Oak Grove
Methodist church near Brevard for
Mrs. Earl Hall, 36, of Brevard, who
died at her home early Sunday
morning following an illness of a
few days. Rev. W. S. Price and
Rev. S. F. McAuley conducted the
service. Interment was in the
church cemetery.
Surviving are the husband and
10 children, all living at the home
in Brevard. Five brothers and one (
sister also survive.
Mrs. Hall was formerly Miss
Marjorie Ball, daughter of Mrs.
Maggie Whitmire, of Brevard. She
was a native of Brevard and had
always lived here.

EXPLANATION IS MADE
In the old Brevard bank case, it
has been pointed out that S. R.
Owen, A. M. White and W. L. Tal
i ley, who were tried for “criminal
conspiracy” in violation of banking
laws in the superior court here in
1931, were cleared on appeal and
that they did not pay any fine or
serve any sentence.

along the highway and the left
front wheel of the car collided with
the rear wheels of the truck, caus
ing the car to turn over on the
side of the highway. The truck was
also damaged, but the driver es
caped without injury.
