JUNIOR CLASS PRESENTS PLAY Three-Act Comedy To Be Given At High School Au ditorium Friday The Junior play, a 3-act comedy, entitled “Here Comes Charlie” will be presented in the high school auditorium Friday night at eight o’clock. The plot involves a bewildered bachelor who adopts a little hill billy orphan from the Ozarks, to the astonishment of his friends and relatives. The cast includes Maisie Holden as Charlotte Hoops; Paul Patter son as Larry Eliot, the bewildered bachelor; Sarah McMahan as Aunt Fannie Farnam, a neurotic woman who learns to mind her own bus iness; Bryan Petit as Ted, Larry’s best friend; Jeanne Wiley as Nora, the Irish cook and maid; Allen Eberle as Tim, Nora’s policeman boy-friend; Carolyn Kizer as Vivian Smith-Kersey, a spoiled brat who is after anything she can get—espe cially Larry; Dorothy Pace as Mrs. Smith-Kersey, another edition of Vivian; A. J. Montieth as the main comedy character, Uncle Alec Twiggs; and Frank Kornowski as Mortimer Smith-Kersey, a lazy, indolent fellow. MIDDLE FORK NEWS By N. H. CHAPMAN A well-attended singing conven tion was held at the Middle Fork Baptist church, Sunday afternoon, and the event was declared highly successful. Singers participating in the convention were: Rev. Worten Dunn and wife, duet; Rev. James Allred and wife; Zion Quartet, of Rosman; Southern Three of Bre vard; Shelton Brothers’ trio, of Rosman, and singers from West Asheville. The choir was led in turn by W. L. Harmon, Slim Jam ison, Glenn Winchester, Mr. Rev is, of Brevard, and A. M. Paxton, of Rosman. A. D. Randolph presid ed at the convention. Jessie Rains, of this community, has been ill for some time with an infected foot and leg, and we are glad to note that he is somewhat improved. Next Sunday is the regular Sunday for the pastor, Rev. Jessie Meece, to be in charge of the ser vice. Everyone is urged to be pres ent to hear this young minister. Pastor N. H. Chapman an nounces that next Sunday at the Oak Grove Baptist church, Lake Toxaway, route 1, a special ser vice will be held and good music will be furnished by Rev. Worten Dunn and his wife, of Asheville. The Rev. Mr. Dunn is also expect ed to preach. Following the ser vice, the Lord’s supper will be ob served and a cordial invitation is extended to all to be present. Fats and oils will remain scarce all winter, but less so after Christ mas.
