LEE NORTON I know there are those who read the Times who would be pleased to know I had a nice quiet birthday and spent Thanksgiving in a delightful way. One was on the 24th and the other the 25th. I spent my birthday at home with my niece. Mrs. Maggie Nich olson. who cooked my birthday din ner. Then on Thanksgiving morn ing another niece, Mrs. Oat Hen son. and her daughter. Mrs. Wain [Johnson, of Easley, S. C., came by and picked up Mrs. Nicholson and me on their way to Cashiers. In Fairfield we were joined by Mrs. Mack Robinson. We visited with a few friends in Cashiers and dined at the cafe. On our return from dinner, we were joined by Mack Robinson, in Fairfield, who was once caretaker of Fairfield Inn, now Tatum’s Sky club. Mack show ed the party the interesting places about the Inn, and from there he took us to the mink farm. One would have to walk among the cages to get any idea what a mink farm was like, but let me assure you that it’s interesting to watch those little animals dodging in and out of their cages. We then went to an old orchard, gathering a few bushels of apples for the South Carolina ladies, 1 then home to feast on turkey that i had been prepared by Mrs. Roy Flynn. A pretty full day for an 82-year old lady, don’t you think, and one ! to be long remembered by this (writer. By 1946 farmers were spending three times what they spent in 1936 for medical care.
