Proposed Sewer Improvements Recommendations for improvement to our sewer system by John J. Harte, engineer employed by the town to make a survey of our water and sewer systems and propose plans for their expansion and im provement, are: 1. Immediate construction of trunk sewer along King’s Creek, beginning at western city limit and extending to French Broad River. This will fur nish Hewer facilities for the Kings Mill Road, Kings Creek Road and Pisgah Mills area, and also the section north of the railroad. It will also re lieve the dangerous situation through the Brevard College property, where we have an open sewer for half a mile. 2. Replace 8-inch tannery sewer with a 12-inch line at the upper end and replace 12-inch line be low junction with Jumping Branch sewer with 18 inch line. This will stop periodic blow-outs on this line and relieve unsanitary conditions along Brushy Creek. It will also save a considerable amount of maintenance cost. 3. Construct primary sewage treatment plant. This is considered a requirement by federal and state stream pollution authorities in very near fu ture and we must prepare for it. 4. Construct trunk line from city limit along Hen dersonville highway to Kings Creek sewer, with laterals into College Heights section and up Mc lean road. 5. Construct trunk line on North Brevard street to French Broad street. 6. Extend Maple street sewer into Maple street extension and on to connect with Tannery sewer, provided that this section is incorporated in town limits. 7. Construct laterals into unsewered areas of the town to furnish sewer facilities wherever peti tioned by property owners. If North Brevard and Green Acres Are Incorporated In Town Limits: 1. Construct trunk line from Hendersonville high way at Mr. Sam Allison’s, down Lambo Creek to Kings Creek sewer. 2. Extend trunk line along Hendersonville high way with laterals into Green Acres and Hillcrest sections. 3. Construct laterals along Neely road and High way 280 to connect with Hendersonville highway trank sewer. <1 4. Construct trank line from Hendersonville high way down creek between Gallimore Hill and Mills place to treatment plant on river, with laterals to serve Norwood subdivision areas and remainder of North Brevard. The improvements outlined above will cost approximately $300,000. If the areas mentioned out side of town are not incorporated into the town lim its, of course we cannot make the improvements proposed there. This will reduce the total expenditure from one-fourth to one-third. That would be most unfortunate because it would mean those sections would be hampered in their growth. We need them to grow along with us. Vote The Bond Issue and Let's See What A Well Sewered Town We Can Have! TOWN OF BREVARD J. L AYERS, _ ^ _ R. J. DUCKWORTH, S. E. VARNER, Sr. john a. ford, W. M.
