Rotarians With Demonstrations E. W. Williams, former fire chief from Boston, Mass., conducted a highly entertaining magician’s show on fire prevention at the joint meet ing of the Brevard Lions and Ro tary club in Gaither’s Rhododen dron room. Representing the Liberty Mutual Insurance companies, Mr. Williams used a number of demonstrations to show how fires are started and methods of prevention. Using a miniature school house, Mr. Williams demonstrated the best way to protect such a building from fire, using a sprinkler system that would also turn in an alarm to the fire station. He said that in these United States seven school houses a day on an average are burned down. In giving tips on fire prevention, he cautioned his listeners not to keep oily rags out in the open and never to use a makeshift fuse in the home or in business or indus try. Many years ago Mr. Williams took up tricks of magic as a hobby, and upon his retirement as fire chief, he began to tour the country, giving demonstrations in an effort to reduce the vast amount of de struction by fires each year. C. E. Morelock, district fire in surance supervisor of the Liberty company, of Charlotte, also attend ed the joint meeting here. Dick Krueck, also of the Liberty com pany, introduced the speaker. Rotary president, Pete Doyle, presided over the joint affair, and announced that the Rotarians would hold a business session at their next regular meeting. Wheeler & Son, Inc., Brevard town ship. G.
