Catalog Publicizes Efforts Of Foresters In South, Ranger Says Sears, Roebuck and company’s 1954 spring and summer catalog de votes its front cover and two addi tional pages to an endorsement of the foresters’ efforts in the South. The section points out that the prudent use of woodlands adds more than $5,000,000,000 annually to the South’s income from the sale of timber products, according to Ranger Ted Seely, of the Pisgah National Forest. Illustrated with color drawings on the cover and photographs in side, the section on forestry shows how the forest resources of the South, properly managed, represent increasing wealth in the form of timber products, soil conservation, water for power, industry, and homes, and proper surroundings for wildlife and recreation. “Sears pledges its full and whole hearted cooperation to those who believe that caring for our wood lands will bring greater opportuni ty and better living conditions for the people of our land,” Ranger Seely said, and added: “The U. S. Forest Service gratefully acknowl edges this salute by Sears and wel comes this and all other support in the effort to grow and maintain forests for greater employment, cash returns, health, and pleasure for the people of the South.” j DR.
