MERRILL PENROSE — The Penrose P-TA met on Tuesday night, May 11th, at the school. The president, Mrs. Mae Westall, was in charge of the meeting. At this meeting the new officers were installed. The new officers are: President, Mrs. Leland George, of Little River; first vice president D. C. Landreth; second vice president, Mrs. Ruby McKel vin; secretary, Mrs. Holland Orr; tieasurer, Mrs. Thurman Dockery. After the business part of the meet ing, Carroll Merrell, principal of Penrose school, showed a film cn “Fears of Children,” after which refreshments were served. Music Program The Carolina Mountain boys pre sented a musical program at Pen rose school on Friday night, May 14th. A good crowd attended and enjoyed the program very much. The program was sponsored by the school. These boys are heard over radio station WPNF each Saturday afternoon from 6:30 p. m. until 7 o’clock. Y. W. A. The YWA girls of Enon church met on Monday night, May 10th, at the church. There were eight pres ent for this meeting. The program was on Baptist Schools in South America. The next meeting will be held on Monday night, May 24th, at the home of Mrs. Gladys Rogers. After the program a household shower was held in the church basement for Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Case. They receiv' d many useful gifts. At the close of the shower refreshments were served by the hostesses. Birth Congratulations go to Mr. and Mrs. Juddy McCrary on the birth of a daughter on May 9th at the Tran sylvania Community hospital. Sick List We have many on our sick list. We wish to each and every one a speedy recovery. Garrett Is Head Of Christ School Class Ed Garrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Garrett, has been elected president of the 1954-55 sophomore class at Christ School in Arden. He is also a member of the stu dent council at the Episcopal boys’ school. Garrett entered Christ School last fall and he has been active in sports and other school activities. CRUSADE MEETING Brevard’s Youth Crusade will meet at the Waltermire hotel this Saturday at 7:15 p. m. for a brief preliminary service and then go as a delegation to the tent evangelis tic crusade. Delegation ribbons will be distributed at this service and preparations will be made for the crusade’s great victory rally and outing coming soon. B. Web ster’s recent illness. Rev. C. B. Webster and Family Minister Retires REV. S. B. McCALL, who serv ed a large number of Baptist churches in this area, preached his retiring sermon at Blue Ridge Bap'iis*; church last Sunday morn ing on the occasion of his 73rd birthday. He was ordained into the ministry in 1906 and has served the Transylvania associa tion in various capacities.
