Soprano Agnes Davis, tenor Wal ter Carringer, and baritone Andrew White shared the limelight with the Brevard Festival Chorus, train ed by Donald Plott, in a perform ance of Haydn’s oratorio, “The Sea son’s,” before a capacity crowd Sunday afternoon. The concert, conducted by James Christian Pfohl, was the third of the 10th anniversary festival. NEAL LITTLE RIVER — The Little River Community club met Thurs day night, Aug. 11th, at the com munity center with Otis Merrill presiding. After a bountiful cover ed dish supper, a period of busi ness was held by the club. An in formal program followed the busi ness, at which time recognition was given to the visitors and new field workers in Transylvania county. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Glazener were present and Mr. Glazener in troduced H. E. Newland, soil con servationist; Professors Horace Rawls and Max Miller who are do ing research on part-time farming in Transylvania for State college, and also making a study of commu nity participation in organized com munities; G. H. Farley and Mrs. Neal McGlamery, assistant field workers, were also present and the wives of Mr. Rawls and Newland. The club listened with interest to the talks by these men who are in so many ways helping and en couraging the farmers and part time farmers of our community and county. Hold Homecoming, Hinkle Reunion At Whitewater Sunday The annual homecoming and the Hinkle reunion will be held this coming Sunday at the Whitewater Baptist church. Special singing will be by the Lit tleton quartet, of Salem, S. C., and the sermon will be preached by a visiting minister, the secretary, Mrs. Bessie Cash states. Invitation is being extended to the general public to attend, espe cially all members, former pastors and singers. The occasion is also being held in honor of Mrs. Alice Hinkle on her 85th birthday.
