Well Attended At
Whitewater Church

WHITEWATER — The Rev.
Jesse Meece was visiting minister
at the church here Sunday and de
livered a most inspiring message.
A large crowd attended the home
coming Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hubbard, of
East Fork, were week end visitors
of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Lyday.
Little Sharon Moss was painfully
injured in a car accident last week.
We wish for her a speedy recovery.
Sharon is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Alton Moss, of Sumter,
S. C., formerly of this community.
Week end guests at the Brewer
home were Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Brewer and children, and Douglas
Brown, of Marion.
Mr. and Mrs. Gus Allen and
children, of Quebec, were Sunday
visitors of Mrs. Allen’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lusk. Mr. Lusk
is slightly improved after having
suffered a heart attack at his home
here last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cash and
children, of Dayton, Ohio, are vis
iting relatives here and at Brevard
this week.
Miss Elizabeth Stribling visited
friends at Walhalla, S. C., last week.

Homecoming At
Oak Grove Will
Be On Sept. 4th
The annual homecoming for Oak
Grove Methodist church has been
announced for Sunday, September
4th, according to the pastor, Rev.
W. A. Kerr.
Mr. Kerr announces that efforts
are being made to secure an out
standing minister for the Sunday
morning message.
The events will begin with Sun
day school at 10 a. m., followed by
the morning service at 11 a. m.
A picnic dinner will be spread
at the noon hour with special sing
ing scheduled for the afternoon.
The average cow gave 5,500
pounds of milk last year. The rec
ord for milk production for one
year is 42,805 pounds, or eight
times the national average.

Gay Valley Camp
A traditional southern fried
chicken dinner will be served by
the Dunn’s Rock community center
at the Gay Valley camp on Satur
day evening, August 27th, from 6
to 9 p. m. Adults $1.25, children
75c. Musical entertainment will be
furnished.
