A number of teachers of the Ros
xnan Elementary school attended
the western district social studies
meeting, Friday at David Millard
School in Asheville.
The meeting was attended by
principal^, seventh grade teach
ers, and special teachers.

and Mrs. B. E. Keisler.
On New Year’s Eve
•The teen agers of the MYF of
the Rosman Methodist church held
a New Year’s Eve watch party at
the Rosman club center.
Games were played under the
direction of Paul Price and Miss
Elizabeth White.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. Joe Osborne and Miss White.
A short program was also pre
sented at the church at 11:30 p. m.
White Speaks
Deloris Winchester presented a
program on “Stewardship” at the
meeting of the Girls Auxiliary of
Mt. Moriah Calvert Baptist church
Sunday afternoon at the church.
Mrs. William White, counselor,
spoke on “Goals for the coming
year.” Others participating on the
program were: Janice Whitmire,
Dorothy Hooper, Joyce and Rose
mary Parker, Paulette Hooper, El
wyn Galloway, and Margaret Win
chester.
A special coronation service
will be held for a maiden, two la
dies-in-waiting, and four princess
es next Sunday following the reg
ular church service.
Meet Jan. 14
The January meeting of the Mid
dle Fork Home Demonstration
club will be held January 17 at
1:30 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Nor
ris Berkshire. ^ r
Officers will be elected and Miss
Anne Benson Priest, county home
agent, will present a program on
“Attitudes Are Important”. Mrs.
William Sagar, Jr., secretary, urg

Quiet Holidays Reported From Oakland

OAKLAND — The holidays
were quietly observed at Oakland.
The annual Christmas party was
presented at the Lake Toxaway
Baptist church by the intermediate
Sunday school class.
It was followed by the Christmas
tree, which was loaded with pres
ents and treats.

The sudden death of Mrs. Robin
son of Biltmore, the former Miss
Carrie Lowe, of Oakland, was sad
news to her many friends and rel
atives here.
