Holiday
Reported
/Is Quiet
The 1S61 Christmas holidays
were quietly observed in Bre
vard and Transylvania coun
ty, marred only by the fatal
accident early last Saturday
morning near Pisgah Forest
in which two young persons
lost their lives.
Local officers reported that
it was one of the “quietest”
holidays ever in the town and
county.
The State Highway Patrol
said that not one arrest was
made in which the driver was
charged with driving under
the influence.
The county was blanketed
with snow on Saturday, but
Christmas was clear and cold.
Most of Brevard Stores had
an extended holiday.
They were closed, as usual,
for Sunday, and then Monday
and Tuesday were holidays.
Christmas shopping was
brisk last weekend, and the
Welfare department, aided by
civic groups, churches and
others, spread Christmas cheer
over a wide area.
