Carolina Ladies Quartet To Be Heard Sunday Night Zion By Mrs. Austin Hogsed The Carolina Ladies Quartet, a well - known group of singers of Greenville, S. C., will pre sent a concert of gospel music Sunday night at 7:00 at Zion Baptist church in Rosman. The pastor, the Rev. Tommie Goldsmith, invites the public to attend the event. Supper Plans for sponsoring a chick When you think of prescrip tions, think of VARNER’S, adv en supper were made last week at the meeting of the Eastatoe Community club. Proceeds from the supper, which is scheduled for March 10th from 5 to 9 p. m., at the club center, will be given to the Rosman high school senior class to be used on the fund for their trip to Washington, D. C. and New York in March. Tickets will be on sale by the seniors. Club Meets The Extension Homemakers club of the Cherryfield sec tion will meet Tuesday night, Feb. 27th, at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Brisco Whitmire. Hooper, Sr., ana other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Carter and children, of Suffolk, Va., spent the weekend with Mr. Carter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hamil ton. of Blantyre, were Sunday guests of the former’s sister, Mrs. J. C. Whitmire and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Calla ham were guests Sunday of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. CaHaham in Six Mile, S. C. The latter Mr. and Mrs. Cal laham recently returned to the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mauldin in Six Mile after un dergoing treatment in Cannon Memorial hospital in Pickens, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Chand ler, of Salem, S. C., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jackson of Seneca, S. C., were Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bryson. They also visited Bill Jackson, of Rosman, who is reported to be slowly improving in the Vet erans hospital in Oteen. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Harring ton were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rogers in Mills River. Mack Thomas and Mrs. Cora Bagwell, of Travelers Rest. S. C., spent Sunday with the for mer’s brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. James Sta ton. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Reid and children were Sunday guests of the former’s father. Johnny Reid, and Mrs. Reid in Mariet ta, S. C„ and Rev. and Mrs. Ray Byars'in Pickens, S. C. Mrs. G. M. Aiken spent . Moore were Mr. and Mrs. Pat Patterson and chil dren, of Easley, S. C., Mrs. D. F. Williamson, of Grenville, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Aiken and Mrs. Esther Morris, of Brevard. Mrs. J. R. Whitmire returned home Monday after undergoing treatment in Transylvania Com munity hospital. She is report ed to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. Worth Hill, Mrs. M. G. Thomas, Mrs. Juan ita Alexander and sons, and Mrs. Eugene Rose and son, of Hendersonville, were Sunday guests of Mrs. Henry McCall. Allen Sisk, Jr., of Columbia, S. C., is spending several days with his father A. M. Sisk, Sr., and Mrs. Sisk. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kuykendall and children, of Swannanoa, spent Sunday with Mrs. Kuy kendall’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Whitmire. Sunday guests at the McDevitt On The World's Biggest Warship Airman Ronald H. McDevitt, USN, son of Mrs. Verona I. Mc Devitt, of Rosman, has report ed aboard the world’s largest warship, the nuclear powered attack aircraft carrier Enter prise. The 90,000 . ton warship has just completed 30 days “on the line” as a Seventh Fleet at tack carrier conducting air strikes against supply route and military complexes in North Vietnam. He joined the carrier’s 5,000 man crew during the ship’s rest and relaxation period in Subic May, Philippines. Retired Persons Hear Valentine At Next Meeting Members of the American Association of Retired Persons will enjoy an unusual musical treat at its next meeting, Tues day morning at ten o’clock in the Community Center. The Reverend Fred Valen tine, popular Episcopal rector and entertainer will provide a program of songs and banjo playing. Reverend Valentine’s talent for singing and playing is very favorably known in Western North Carolina and has kept him in great demand in our area.
