New Drugs
According to Dr. R. F. Beh
low, Extension Veterinarian,
North Carolina State University,
Raleigh.
“A new drug Poloxalene
(Bloat Guard) is effective in
controling legume bloat. This
drug is incorporated into a mo
lasses block for controlling
bloat. This drug can be safely
fed to all cattle - including Ro
tating dairy cows. No withdraw,
al period is required.
No other salt or mineral
blocks can be used when Bloat
Guard is used because the con
sumption of the drug is con
trolled by the salt in the block.
“Oh, To Be A Dairyman”
“Oh, to be a dairyman” now
that June Dairy Month is here.
Get up early and stay up late.
Milk twice a day for 365 days
most years and a seven day
work-week every year.
In addition to his busy work
load, a dairyman is a . . . vet
erinarian, geneticist, plumber,
tax payer, carpenter, parent, me
chanic, tax payer, weed special
ist, nutritionist, sanitarian, citi
zen, businessman, tax payer,
product promoter, teamster, la
borer, bookkeeper, husband, tax
payer, horticulturist, tax expert,
conservationist, weatherman and
tax payer. He is also.ob
stetrician, animal husbandman,
taxpayer, agronomist, entromo
logist, economist, tax payer,
and accountant and an efficien
cy expert. In his spare time, the
dairy farmer is a family man,
sports enthusiast, church goer,
dancer, consumer and, last but
not least, worrier.
Outdoor Cooking
Spring, summer or fall is an
ideal time for picnics and out
door cooking. Fried or barbe
cued chicken or turkey is ideal
for picnics and outdoor cook
ing. If the young fryer-roaster
turkeys are not available, large
turkeys can be cut into indi
vidual portions. Barbecued tur
key steaks make a mouth wat
ering dish.
Pickled eggs dyed different
colors help to decorate the
table as well as providing an
unusual dish of food.
