Brevard Chamber Of Commerce To Meet Tuesday Directors of the Brevard chamber of commerce will hold their regular monthly meeting next Tuesday night, September 12th. at 7:30 pan. in the Trans ylvania county library. Gaines On Local Field Thursday, Friday Nights The Brevard Blue Devils and the Bosnian Tigers open their home football schedules in two important games here at the Transylvania County Stadium this weekend. The Tigers get things un derway first when they host Crossnore in a Thursday night encounter, and the Blue De vils open their home and Ivy conference schedule on Fri day night when they take on coach Bill Rucker’s undefeat ed Owen Warhorses. Both games are scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m. The Tigers and the Blue Devils will both be ti;ing to rebound from opening game setbacks on the road last week. Bosnian sustained an 18-7 loss at the hands of Bak ersville, and the Blue Devils dropped a hard fought con test to Hendersonville, 14-6. Full details on these games are carried on pages 6 and 7 of this section. Both coaching staffs at the two Transylvania schools have been busy this week correct ing mistakes that proved costly in their openers last week. Bosnian and Brevard both fumbled their ^ games intentions of allowing repeat performances of those costly miscue:.. Large crowds are expected for both games as the football season here in Transylvania swings into full gear this weekend. The Blue Devils and the Tigers came out of their op eners in pretty good physical condition, and both teams are expected to be at peak per formance this weekend. Reserved season tickets for Brevard’s four home games are currently on sale for 87.00 per booklet at the office of Brevard high school. MAYOR RAYMOND F. BENNETT officially opened the new and modern Brevard ABC store last Friday afternoon in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:00 o’clock. While traffic was heavy, there were no reports of any major accidents in the town or county. Most of the stores in Brevard were closed on Monday, as were town and county offices and the schools. She IHNind'Mrs. Rex Humphrey, Clubhouse Needed Stockholders Of Glen Cannon Country Club To Meet Monday Stockholders of Glen Cannon Country Club, Inc., will meet Monday night. Sept. 11th, at 7:30 o’clock in the auditorium of Brevard senior high school. The purpose of the meeting is to decide whether or not to permit the Board of Directors to issue additional capital stock in the amount of 196 shares up on payment of $400 for each share issued. This money will be used to build a new and needed club house, Paul W. Schlunz, the president, announces. Notices of the meeting with enclosed proxies have been mailed to all stockholders. “We need capital now,” Mr. Schlunz says, in urging all stockholders to attend the meet, ing. Mrs. Leopard Dies As Result Of Injuries In Auto Accident Funeral services for Mrs. Dale Galloway Leopard, age 22, of Brevard were conducted Monday afternoon at Macedo nia Baptist church. Elder Leg gett officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Leopard died in an New Classes In Western Style Square Dancing The Sylvan Squares will spon sor a new class of Western style square dance instruction Thurs day, September 14th, at 8:00 pm., in the American Legion building. All interested persons are in vited to attend. Fisher Reunion Set Saturday The Annual Fisher reunion will be held at Lake Toxaway Baptist church September 9th. Everyone is invited. A picnic dinner will be serv ed at noon. Asheville hospital Friday night following an automobile accident on Brevard road. She was a native of Transylvania county and attended Brevard high school. She is survived by her hus band, Parker Eugene Leop ard; one son, Bradley Parker and one daughter, Kelley Re nee Leopard, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan Galloway of Brevard route 2. Highest reading for the week was a mild 83 on Wednesday, while the week’s low was Tuesday morn ing when the thermometer read 45 degrees. The week’s rainfall amounted to only .61 inch. Temperatures for the period during the next five days are expected to average below nor. mal, with daytime highs in the mid-70’s. Morning low tempera tures should average around 50.
