KEN RILEY CATHEY’S CREEK —Christ mas was spent very quietly in our section with some visiting and no accidents reported. The sick and elderly folks wish to express heartfelt thanks to the Cathey’s Creek Baptist church for the fruit baskets and gifts from the church on Christmas eve. They were much appreciated. Mr. and Mrs. Auburn Cison from Easley, S. C. and sons vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Carley Mann over the weekend. Visitors at the John Mann residence for the holidays in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Grady Lance and family of Ashland, Ky., and Mrs. Edna Danielson and family of Atlanta, Ga. Christmas day visitors of the Alvin Fowlers were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McKinney and Jean Shook of Asheville. Charles Barton of Newport News, Va., spent the holidays visiting relatives here. A CHRISTMAS STOCKING, containing 50 one dollar bills, was presented last Friday afternoon to Miss Bronith Brown, who resides on Whitmire street, by John I. An derson on behalf of Radio Station WPNF and the sponsors of a spec ial Christmas promotion. Miss Brown is an employee of the American Thread company, and she said the money was a good Christmas pres ent. Her name was drawn from a box that contained all the names of those 'persons who registered at Miller’s Laundry, Mims and Lyday, Brevard Jewelers, Varner’s and at Patterson’s while Christmas shop ping.
