Thursday, July 16, 1970 PAGE TWO * Babe Ruth Baseball Teams Are ' Competing For Aetna Trophies Babe Ruth Baseball teams in the Brevard area are again competing for championship trophies to be awarded by Aet na Life & Casualty. General Agent James T. Es tes, CLU, head of the company’s life division at Charlotte, said his office will present trophies to winners of Babe Ruth dis trict play-offs in the area as part of a national Aetna-Babe Ruth awards program. Countrywide, Aetna Life & Casulty will present more than 700 team and individual tro phies to district, state and re gional champions, and to com petitors in the Babe Ruth World Series to be held at Brawley, Calif., August 21st - 29th. Wildlife Club Will Elect New Officers Thursday Night The Transylvania Wildlife Club will meet on July 16th at 7:30 p. m. in the Conference room of the First Citizens Bank & Trust Company. This is an important meet ing as officers for the coming year will be elected and other business will be taken up. All members are urged to be present and guests are cordial ly invited to attend che meet ing. A NEW FIELD HOUSE is cur rently under construction at Brevard high school, and, if things go as planned, the new facility will be ready for use when the Brevard Blue Devils host the Hendersonville Bearcats in the season’s grid opener on Friday, September 4th. All of the labor on the project is being donated by many local interested persons, and a substantial donation on the materials has brought the- overall cost of the much-needed building way down. BHS coaches, students and former students, and many skilled construction workers, all working under the capable supervi sion of Robert Merrill of Merrill’s Masonry, Inc., are putting in many man-hours daily to have the field house ready soon. When completed, the field house will have dressing rooms for varsity and junior varsity athletic teams, will house all athletic equipment and laundry facilities, and will also be used by the wrestling team for practice sessions. All per sons willing to donate some of their time and effort to a very worthy project are welcome to colne out and “pitch in” at any time. While living in Brevard, Mr. Brackett was a member of the First Baptist Church, served on the Board of Deacons and was Superintendent of the Intermediate Sunday School Department.
