Mackey, of Penrose. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Blythe, of Pisgah Forest Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a vel ' vet dress with a princess neddine, sweeping straight in . front with accenting pleat in center of back at waist with fullness from pleat coming * out into the small train. Over an imported Spanish mantilla comb drapes a chap el length silk illusion veil bordered with imported satin corded rosebud lace with Spanish accented headpiece. She carried a white Bible presented by the Baptist Young Women topped with a white orchid: Miss Margaret Ann Mack ey, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore an empire waist floor length gown of deep royal blue velvet with short sleeves add princess neckline. She carried a nosegay of white mums. Bridesmaids were Miss Jean Blythe, sister of the groom, of Cookville, Tennessee; Miss Karen Grubby of Fayetteville and Miss Janice Martin, form er roommate of the bride, of Charlotte. The bridesmaids were dressed identical to the honor attendant, except in baby-blue velvet. The groom’s father served as best man. ■ Ushers were Mike Hodge, brother-in-law of the groom, of Cookville, Tennessee; Rog er Grasperson, of Pisgah For est; Taylor Mackey and David Mackey, brothers of the bride, of Penrose. The mother of the bride wore a gold dress with brown accessories. The mother of the groom wore a brown ensemble with matching accessories. They both wore yellow mum corsages. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. Hunter, execu tive director of the Brevard Jaycee Sheltered Workshop, was introduced to the mem bers of the Brevard Book and Plate Club by Mrs. George Spicer at the December meet ing. Mrs. Robert Gash was host ess for the Club at her home on Laurel Lane. Mr. Hunter talked to the club members concerning the organization of the Sheltered Workshop here in Brevard and its cooperation with the North Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. He demonstrated through the use of colored slides how the Workshop has become an asset to the community and of the many beneficial serv ices it provides for people who are physically or mental ly handicapped. The Workshop provides op portunity for useful training and productive work for many handicapped persons. Most important, it offers them hope and a sense of dignity. Mr. Hunter pointed out that Workshop clients are avail able, by arrangement, for yard work, snow clearance and other tasks. He reminded the club members that the Workshop is very anxious to receive any old cotton cloth that can be made into rags. Mrs. Patrick Bohan, Presi dent, presided over the busi ness meeting which followed. The budget for the coming year was presented by Mrs. Glenn Winstom, treasurer. Announcement was made that John Williams and Robert Rhyne, both students at Bre vard Senior High School, would represent the Book and Plate Club in music at the Fine Arts Festival to be held in Asheville in March. Heidi Strieker will be the Acamedic Scholarship repre sentative with Gayle Master son as alternate. Mrs. Tom Ramsey, Christ mas Chairman, told of plans for Christmas concerning the family the Club has sponsored for several years. Mrs. Martha Jayne Johnson, welfare chairman, reported a very successful and full year at the Jack and Jill Day Care Center. Mrs. Keitha Reddick dis closed plans for the Christmas social gathering for husbands and wives to be a dinner at Berry’s followed by a progres sive party at Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson’s home. Following the business meeting, the members made decorations and Santa boots for the Jack and Jill Day Cen ter.
