Tornado Thindads Win Third Meet Run Again Here Thursday Ed Williams set two new .nit door records and accumulated 14% points to lead Brevard Junior College to an easy-, 86-57 track and field victory over Milligan College here Monday afternoon. Williams won the triple jump with a leap of * 46 feet, 2% inches and the broad jump in 22 feet, 11% inches, both new outdoor records for Brevard. Williams was also second in the 220-yard dash and on the win ning relay team in the 440-yard dash. Tryouts for the Minor League baseball teams will be held at the VFW field on April 17th and April 24th at 10:08 a.m. for boys who were born between 8/1/60 and 7/31/63 (ages 8-8 10). Application forms may be ob tained at Groves Launderette on Caldwell Street. The form should be complete ly filled in, signed by both par ents, if possible, and brought to the field on Saturday. These tryouts are only for boys who have not previously played baseball in Transylvania County. Boys already team members will be notified by their managers when practice will start. Boys who have completed their eligibility in the Little League and Babe Ruth League are urged to turn in their uni forms at once so they may be assigned to new players upon completion of the player draft. LIS Klf 7n> 90-WtJCH: STEVE DAVIS SIGNS — Brevard’s six foot, seven inch pivot man this past season has signed a grant-in-aid to play basketball at Central Wesleyan College in Central, S. C. According to Coach Lewis Hill, left, “Steve is the type of young man that we are looking for. His desire,, determination and jumping ability make him a potentially fine basketball player”. This past year, Steve averaged eight points a game and 10 rebounds. He is the son of Rev. and Mrs. James Allen Davis. Mr. Davis is pastor of The Church of Christ on the Hender sonville highway. Athletic Information Prior To 1944 Being Compiled Here Rosman High Athletic Banquet Set Friday Night The annual Roslnan High Athletic Banquet will be held this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Principal speaker for the oc. easion will be Coach Don Den ning, who has been an assistant on Coach Bob Waters’ staff at Western ' -Carolina 1 University fortlre past'three years. Many athletic awards will be made' during the banquet, and The Athletic Department at Drevard High is conduct ing a search for football in formation prior to 1944.
