Revival Revival services began Mon day night at the Rosman Church of God with the Rev. Martha Hall of Mocksville as the visit ing speaker. The pastor, the Rev. Charles Millard, invites the public to attend the services which are held each night at 7:30. Dinner Mrs. Ed Stanley was honor ed with a Mother’s Day dinner Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Brenda Jamer son. The dinner was given by her children. The honoree was presented with a Mother’s ring. Fifteen guests were present for the occasion. White Bible Service Miss Freda Meece, bride-elect of Gene Wilkerson, both of Pickens, S. C„ will be honored with a White Bible service Sun day night at 7:30 at the Middle Fork Baptist church with the Young Women of the Church in charge. Miss Meece is a former Ros man resident and is the daugh ter of the Rev. Jesse Meece, pastor of the Middle Fork church, and Mrs. Meece. Party Mrs. James E. Saunders honored her daughter, Anna Marie, with a party May 4th in honor of her seventh birthday anniversary. Games were di rected by Bruce Saunders. The honoree received many lovely gifts. Delicious refreshments were served. Guests present included: Dwight Parker, David and Elana Chapman. Tena and Frankie Justice, Lisa Warren, Dean and Tony Harris, Jeff Owen, Vicki Smith, Dianne Griffiths, and Kenny Owenby. To The Voters Of Rosman I take this means to express my sincere appreciation for the vote of confidence I received in Rosman’s town election Tuesday, May 4th. MAYOR Lutherans Will Hold Convention S i The 167th annual convention * of the Liftheran Chttrch in j North Carolina will be held in St. John’s Lutheran Church, ' Salisbury, beginning on Friday evening, May 14th, according i to information released from i the official headquarters of the j state organization, the Rev. George W. Whittecar, D.D. president The three-day gathering will represent a departure from former years in that it will be over a weekend, hopeful that many business and professional lay persons might have an op portunity to attend all or a part j of the sessions. Formal opening will be in I charge of President Whittecar, with devotions conducted by ; the Convention Chaplain, T. C. j Plexico, pastor of St. James j Lutheran Church, Concord. A i full schedule has been worked out for the official delegates, ; including reports of the Execu tive Board; the many standing committee and special commit tees; reports of boards of the institutions owned by the Synod, consisting of Lenoir Rhyne College, N. C. Lutheran Homes; and jointly owned in stitutions, Children's Home; Lutheridge Assemblv, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary! Likewise, elections to mem- i bership on various boards will j take place, along with the elec tion of delegates to the Na tional Convention of The Luth eran Church in America which will be held in 1972. The convention banquet will be held at Catawba College on Saturday night with entertain ment by the Lenoir Rhyne Col lege Ensemble under the direc tion of Ray McNeely. The service with Holy Com munion will be conducted on Sunday morning, with the ser mon delivered by the Rev. Whittecar. The Rev. J. Lewis Thorn burg, D.D., interim pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, along with Mrs. O. A. Hofmann delegate from the local parish will be in attendance, as well as Mrs. J. Lewis Thornburg, and O. A. Hofmann as visitors. Will Organize German Club In Transylvania The German born citizens of Transylvania County have derided to form a club. They feel it would be a good thing for Brevard and its neighbor hood to have such a club. The aim of this club would not only be an answer to a need of these former Germans to meet with each other, but also to give an opportunity to any resident of Brevard to learn more about the cultural life as well as the customs of Germany. A language study could be added. This might inspire other language groups to join together, either individually or unitedly with each other. This club would certainly give Brevard an international fla vor, and also it would have the benefit of uniting all the new- ; ly adopted citizens of the United States of America.
