Revival Services Begin Monday At Glady Branch Baptist Church A revival will be held at the Glady Branch Baptist church from May 16th through the 23rd. It will begin nightly at 7:30 o’clock, with special singing each night. Rev. Earl R. Payne will be the visiting evangelist. He is a former pastor at Glady Branch, and currently he is the minis ter at the First Baptist church at Robbinsville Rev. Danny Smith, pastor at Glady Branch, issues a cordial invitation to all to attend the revival services. A nursery will be provided. REV. EARL R. C. Commissioner of Labor Frank Crane told members of 156 Western North Carolina industries and firms last Friday night at the annual Safety Awards Banquet in the Greek Com munity center in Asheville. The companies were given certificates honoring them for safety achievements made during 1970. Certificates were awarded to industries and firms which had no lost time accidents for periods ranging from one to nine years. Mr. Crane said until the law was passed, the N. C. dent. These battles never end. This army must never cease re cruiting and training volun teers. Its goal is always to help more people with better serv ices. Today the Red Cross is meeting new challenges with many new programs. It merits and needs full community sup port. Now, un der the new law, the impetus will be on compliance, and the law will be enforced by fines and perhaps jail sen tences. He asked for the copora tion of all industries in com plying with the law, and said the state’s excellent safety record was the reason the U. S. Department of Labor, charged with enforcing the law, many permit the N. C. Department of Labor as the state agency to implement the provisions of the law. The meeting will be held at the court house in Bre vard and the public is invit ed. A special invitation is ex tended to those persons who will be voting for the first time. “We urge the young peo ple who are between 18 and 21 years of age to make a special effort to attend. Mr. Winbcrry is a young man and expresses the viewpoint of young people in our party,” Mrs. Hawes stated. All Democrats are encourg ed to attend the rally and to meet and to talk with Mr. Winberry. Baptist Association WMU Meeting Set 18th, Boylston Gantt Rites Set Thursday Funeral services for Charlie Lee Gantt, who died suddenly at his home in Walhalla, South Carolina, on May 10th will be Held Thursday, May 13th, in the Salem Baptist church. Mr. Gantt lived for 37 years in Transylvania county. He re tired from Toxaway Tanning Company in 1963, and moved back to Walhalla, where he was reared. Mr. Gantt was married to the former Mae Crowe. The Gantt’s had made plans to celebrate their Golden Wed ding Anniversary of May 23rd. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Mae Crowe Gantt; one son, James Derrill of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Louise G. Cassell of Brevard, Mrs. Thelma G. Anders and Gladys G. Neal of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one brother, John A. Gantt of Rosman; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nep hews. Mr. Gantt was a member of Zion Baptist Church and also The Baptist Association WMU meeting will be held May 18th at Boyleston Baptist church. The first session begins at 5:30 o’clock in the evening, with supper at 6:00 o’clock. The second session begins at 7:00 o’clock with roll call of all the churches. Rev. Clarence Griffin, for eign missionary to Indonesia, will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to come and hear him. A nursery will be provided. was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Officiating ministers will be the Reverend Don Vaughn and Spearman Jess Meese. Pallbearers will be Sim Nix, Elmer Chapman, Elmos Bar rett, L. J. Powell, David Lan ning and Floyd Smith.
