DOUBLE THE TERROR DOUBLE THE SHOCK COLOR She's Carole Coleman Marsh Some Girls Have Lost Femininity, Model Says By LINDA NICODEMUS Reprinted from The Asheville Times “A lot of girls have lost their ability to be feminine.” That’s the opinion of Ca role Marsh, a professional model who has come to Ashe ville to set up a modeling agency and a finishing class for Blanton’s Business Col lege. “Many are getting away from being feminine and some schools are concerned with it,” she said. “A lot of girls when they are exposed to it find they can be proud of being feminine and being a woman.” She added that wearing skirts too short and wearing pants both have helped to defeminize the school girl. Mrs. Marsh has been in vited by several local schools to talk to the girls about beauty problems. Skirt lengths, hair styles and vis ual poise such as poor sitting, standing and hand positions are some of the areas girls ask about, she said. The natural look is the ap pearance to have, Mrs. Marsh advises the students. She sug gests not wearing eye shadow during the day and not using false eyelashes which pull at the eyelid and cause wrinkles. She also tells the girls to keep the hair away from the face, keep the face clean and not cover it with makeup. Teenagers are concerned with weight problems but she is against crash diets. She tells them tjo eat well. “The good habits you have now will affect you later,” she said. Besides advising the girls, Mrs. Marsh has another pur pose for visiting the schools. She is looking for the top 15 seniors in Western North Caro lina to be in her first profes sional modeling course. So far she has found only one girl who will qualify, she said. She will also teach a six week finishing or charm course beginning this sum mer which will he open to everyone. Out.side activities such as shopping trips will be included, she said. Mrs. Marsh, a 5 - foot - blonde, is originally from Bre vard. She began her career when she was chosen fourth runner up in the Miss North Carolina Pageant in 1967. She was named Miss At lanta for Universal Pictures in 1968. Since then she and her husband, Robert, who is vice president of Saxon Tires, Inc., have lived in Bos ton, San Francisco and Phoe nix. She did various types of modeling work in a city. She has done television com mercials, sales films for com panies, national magazine ad vertisements, and convention modeling. She also was an ex tra in the film “Strawberry Statement.” “A model today has to do a little of everything “she said. Do Your Children Own Bikes?
