Wednesday Club
Ends Year With
Two Meetings
The Brevard Wednesday
Club ended its yearly sched
ule with two meetings this
month.
Mrs. Dean Brownell was
hostess to 17 members and
one guest at her home. After
routine club business, Mrs.
Lehman Kapp presented a
talk on the world celebrated,
and perhaps the most admir
ed man of our times, Dr. Al
bert Schweitzer.
Having read six books in
preparation for her program,
Mrs. Kapp was able to give
each member present an in
sight into this man behind
the myth and legend. Dr.
Schweitzer left two monu
ments: a system of ethics
concerning reverence for all
forms of life, and his thriving
hospital deep in French
Equatorial Africa.
Mrs. Kapp said she would
try to depict the true man,
which she did to the enjoy
ment of the group.
As Dr. Schweitzer had giv
en up a promising career in
music to become a doctor,
recordings of Schweitzer
playing Bach on the organ
were heard in the back
ground.
The group met again on
May 26th at the home of Mrs.
Robert Kimzey at River Bend
Farm for a picnic luncheon.
After a relaxing and leisure
ly meal on the lawn, the
members adjourned to meet
again in September.
