Included in the program are Sibelius’ “Sym phony II’> and, appropriately enough, .‘ Handel’s “Royal Fireworks Music”. This mati nee performance begins at 3:30. The Center’s first opera of the season, Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” £ees many of the lo cal favorites in leading roles. Under the‘ expert direction of John Richards McCrae, David Rae Smitlj of the New York City Opera- Company returns to sing Don i’asquale, Perry Dan iels will play the scheming Malatesta, ; and Jane Frazier Rolandi and Bill McDonald re turns to Brevard in the roles of Norina and Ernesto. The 19th century Rome setting is design ed and lighted by David Hol combe, a very talented young man enjoying his first season at ■the BrevaifduMusic Center. The singers are to be supported by the BMC "Orchestra under the direction <}f Charles Rosekranz of the Houston Opera Company. Again this season the hus band-wife. piano dno of Joan Yarbrough and Robert Cowan are featured performers in the preipiere concert. The pianists play ed with vivacity and project ed the spirit and mood of the music as well.” With the backing of the BMC Orches tra unde; Dr. Janiec, tjie duo will worfc their expertise on Mendelssohn’s “Concerto in E Major”, concerting on their custom built German Steinway s. Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” and Schu mann “Symphony IV” are also featured on this opening program. Pinafore” and the Broadway’ hit musical “Music Man”. Pops concerts will in clude music from “Mame”, “Hair", and “Fiddler on the Roof’ a medley of Jim Webb prongs an$Jj»noert versions of “Showboat” and "My Fair Lady”. !
