Rosman TV A Study
(Continued From Page One)
plains of the streams so as
to minimize vulnerability to
flood damage.
Much of the report is based
on work TVA has been carrying
on since its beginning in con
nection with its water resour
ces operations throughout the
7-state area of the Tennessee
Valley.
In its regular program,
TVA has assembled informa
tion on rainfall, runoff, and
other technical data in con
nection with the occurrence
of floods that have been ex
perienced in many localities
throughout the region. These
data provide the basis for
compiling the flood study re
ports, which are made avail
able to states, communities,
and groups interested in their
local flood problems.
The largest flood known to
have occurred on streams in
the vicinity of Rosman in re
cent years was in October,
1964. Other large floods oc
curred in June, 1876, July,
1916, August, 1928, August,
1940, and September, 1964. The
TVA study shows that floods
in the vicinity of Rosman oc
cur more frequently in the
months of August and October,
but have occurred in every
month of the year.
