Panthers, Braves Win Playoffs In Minor And Little League The two regular season champions of the Minor League and the Little League here proved that their titles were, no fluke as both teams emerged victorious "in the post - season playoffs last week. *Dennis ^Hamilton's Panthers fought off the challenges of two gallant foes, the Braves and the Cardinals, to successfully de fend their regular season title in Minor League play. The Braves battled the Panthers right down to the wire before finally losing by one run Friday night, and then the Cardinals took up the torch and carried the champions into an extra inning before also losing by a one run margin tat the title game Saturday night. jin the Little League, the Braves managed only one scratch hit off losing pitcher Doug Pressley of the Red Sox, but they took advantage of the youngster’s wildness in the first inning to open up a four run advantage that was never over come. Greg Frisbee went all the way for the victors on the mound, striking ont eleven and scattering five hits effec tively. The battling Red Sox closed the gap in the final frame, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Braves won 6-5. The Braves defeated the Pirates and the Mets to earn their spot in the finals, while the Red Sox had whipped the Panthers and the Cardinals in their earlier playoff contests. The league playoffs ended the most successful season ever for the youth baseball program here, with only tbqw All-Star games in each league remaining. Officials and managers of all leagues extend their sincerest gratitude to all parents and fans who contributed so much to help make the season so worthwhile and beneficial to almost 300 Transylvania young sters.
