Annual Whitewater Falls Picnic Reported A "Delightful" Event

“Bob” Scott who had expressed
a desire while he was Lieuten

North Carolina’s chief execu
tive paid tribute to Mr. An
derson for the warm and friend,
ly introduction and stated that

Governor Scott urged the
citizenry to recognize the value
of clean air and pure water
and not to take it for granted.
He expressed hope that the
beautiful area wouldn’t be ex
ploited but he preserved for
future generations. The Spirit
of Freedom and Independence
of the people of the area was
commended by him. North Car
olina has their matching road
funds when the U.S. Forestry
Service has their matching road
funds available.

ests, stated that the Whitewat
er Falls road proiect had top
priority of U. S. Forestry Ser
vice road projects and that the
$200,000 per year alloted for
National Forestry Service road
projects in North Carolina was
pledged to the road proiect.
The North Carolina State High
way Commission bas matching
road monies available for the
road. All surveys for Horse
pasture bridge and approaches
from both sides of the bridge
have been completed and this
link will be submitted for bids
within the near future.
The Schenck Job Corps, un
der the direction of Gene De
Bord, did an excellent job of
parking the some J50 automo
biles, and buses at the picnic.
The Rosman Rescue Squad
furnished an auxiliary power
unit for the loud speakers and
had a standby “Nurses” Auxi
liary station present. Oconee
Rescue Squad had units avail
able.
Governor Scott was presented
a Forest Service photograph of
the famed waterfalls, the high
est in eastern America, frame
made by the Schenck Job
Corps at Pisgah National For
est. U. S. representative W. J.
Bryan Dorn of South Carolina
was presented a similar pho
tograph.

Robert L Justus Is Ordained
Into The Ministry On Sunday
Robert J. Justus was ordain
ed to the Gospel ministry Sun
day evening, July 26tb, by the
Pisgah Forest Baptist church.
The ordination was at the re
quest of the New Hope Bap
tist Church of Franklinton,
Louisiana, where he has been
called as minister. The pisgah
Forest Church was honored to
take part in this special event
and to have one of its own
members chosen and called to
the Gospel ministry,
Rev. M. L. Ross presented
the report from the Associa
tional Ordination Committee.
Two former pastors. Rev. James
Ballard and Rev. Bill Penley,
took part in the ordination ser
vice along with the present pas
tor. Rev. Bill Adams. Rev.
Ballard presented a Bible from
the congregation and gave the
charge, and Rev. Penley deliv
ered the message. The laying
on of hands was followed with
the ordination prayer by Rev.
Otis Wheelhouse, Association
al Missionary. The certificate
of ordination was presented by
Rev. Adams.
The newly ordained minister ,lii
attended Brevard College, Ten
nessee Temple College in ChaV_
