The Library To Present A Series Of Films The and *Fi have * mu ally ('arh. ^ This ta^open ^to^the day, Vugust 4th and conthm ing for thirteen weeks if pub lic Interest warrents. There will be two showings each week. The first at 1*:«0 a.m. in the Community Room of the First Citiien’s Bank and Trnft Company. Projection will he through the courtesy of the Transylvania Agricul tural Service. The second showing will be at 7:3# p.m. in the Seminar Room of the Frrvard College Library, pro jection b" courtesy of the col 1-ge. Tbi° room may be enter ed from the ground level on the santh end of the library. Facinatjng Scope The-e films are .50 minutes each in length and portray a section of history through the great art of the ages with suit able musical background as well as Kenneth Clark’s inter ! preta’ion. There will be a brief period for comments and aues tions from the audience follow ting each film. On August 4th the Forum Panel will consist of Dr. E. A. Hines, Jr., Mrs. Caro lyn Winchester, Mrs. ElL’e L. Herrick and Ernest W. Barnes. The films begin with the end ’of the Dark Ages, the age of the Vikings, and continue to today’s “Heroic Materialism”. The Author and Interpreter Lord Kenneth Clark was educated at Winchester and Trinity Colleges, Oxford. He served as Keeper of the De partment of Fine Arts at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. Later he was appointed Di rector of the National Gal lery, London. During the war he was head of films for the Ministry of Information. He has lectured at Yale, at the National Gallery and at During the 1950’s, he served as Chairman of the Arts Coun cil of Great Britain. During this period, be wrote and directed a series of TV programs. He also 'conducted a memorable tour of British royal palaces for Amer ican TV. Their idea ef an afterlife was a vague, an happy, ghostlike experience. Mysterious religions of the East had been brought into the Roman Empire. AO em phasized the existence and importance of life after death — the continuation of the human soul. The Middle Ages began about 330 with the Roman Emperor Constantine during the same century there were Barbarian invasions, Anglo - Saxons, Vikings or Norsemen and Normans. A great deal that was con structive happened during the Dark Ages. In the ninth cen tury came the Second Golden Age of Byzantine Art Also the new Christian Influence in the art of Europe.
