Brevard Reserve Unit Taking Annual Field Training In SC Company c, 3/323 Kegt (BCT) is currently engaged In Its annual training at Fort Jackson, S. C. for the period from July 31st to August 14th. Company C, Commanded by Captain Calvin K. Jones, is superimposed on Company C 7th Bn, 2nd Bde, for the purpose of conducting the 5th and 6th weeks of Basic Combat Training for US Army Recruits. Reserve personnel conduct the majority of train ing with co-operation from the regular Army personnel who will reassume their nor mal procedure upon the com pletion of the two-week per iod. Recruits are given instruc tion on the following sub jects; Drills and Ceremonies, Hand-to-Hand Combat, Rifle Marksmanship, Marches & Bivouacs and the general policies and procedures of the Army. The Unit First Sergeant is Gerald S. Grose, and Train ing Officers are 1LT Tom Stroup, and 1LT Willard B. Fishbourne. Students Not Registered Must Do So By The 19th Of August Parents who have school children who have not registered for the 1971-72 school term should notify the school Principal by telephone or per sonal visit by August 19, says Harry Corbin, Super intendent. This applies only to children who fit one of the following categories: 1. First Graders who did not attend the Pre-School Clinic last Spring. 2. Pupils who have recently moved to Transylvania County. 3. Pupils who have moved to a different school district during the Summer. Tom McCrary 1$ Reappointed Area Chairman. Auto Dealers Thomas K. McCrary, Mc Crary Chevrolet-Olds., Inc., Bre vard, has been reappointed as Transylvania County Area Chairman for the North Caro lina Automobile Dealers Asso ciation, according to NCADA President J. Fred Rippy, Jr. of Wilmington. Mr. McCrary will act as li aison officer between new car and truck dealers in this area and NCADA and the National Stribling, Jr., PFC John C. Brown, Jr. Automobile Dealers Association. He will be responsible for pro moting the various programs and activities of NCADA and NADA and will conduct a coun ty-wide membership campaign for both organizations in the fall. After securing the permit and after work has begun, a rough-in test must be made by the Plumbing Inspector and also a final inspection af ter completion according to the code. A certificate of ap proval will then be issued to the person to whom the per mit was granted. Every plumber and also individual doing their own work mart secure this per mit .ind have work inspect ed. There is a penalty for violation of this code. S. L.
