Parents Invited To Meetings Of Mental Health Services 3 TransylvaniaMental Health Services offers to the parents of this community an opportun ity to meet with other parents to discuss how the child grows and how to handle the problems that arise. > ■ One such meeting has been going on and meets every oth~ ;er Tuesday at 11:00 a.' m., at . the St. Philip’s Parish House •on East Main Street. *The next date for this group is Septem ber 7, 1971. Another group is being form ed to meet at the Community ; Center, and will begin meeting on September 14, at 11:00 a. m. This group will abo meet ev ery other week. District Meeting Of Churches Of God Set Friday There will be a Brevard Dis trict Fellowship meeting at the Brevard Church of God Friday night, beginning at 7:30 o’clock. The Youth of the district will be in charge of the meeting, :ad the State Youth Director, Rev. Bob Sudtcr, of Charlotte, will bring the message. According to Rev. J. E. Hayes, the District Pastor, everyone is invited to attend the meeting. Serves Transylvania Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center Is Now A Psychiatric Hospital The Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center, Black Mountain, was surveyed by the Joint Commis sion on Accreditation of Ho-pi tals, and was recently notified by the JCAH that it has receiv ed accreditation as a psychia tric hospital, having met all the standards required bv this Com mission. This accreditation is granted for a period of two years. Member organizations of the Joint Commission on Ac creditation of Hospitals are American College of Physicians, American Hospital Association, American College of Surgeons, and American Medical Associa t:on. The Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center under the North Caro lina Department of Mental Health. Its primary function is to diagnose, to treat, and to restore emotionally and men tally disordered persons who are dependent upon alcohol, who are episodic excessive drinkers, habitual excessive drinkers, or are suffering from alcohol adiction or any other kind of alcoholism, and return them to the community. Patients are accepted on a volunteer and committed basis from 32 counties in Western North Carolina, plus six coun ties in the South Central Region from which only volunteer pa ticnts are admitted. These are Anson, Cabarrus, Davidson, Randolph, Stanly and Union. The Alroholic Rehabilitation Center, Rlark Mountain, has been open since March 17, 1969. 'I here are three such institu tions located in North Carolina operated under the Department of Mental Health, and the ARC in Black Mountain is the first to receive such accreditation. For information on admission procedures and other questions which you might have regarding this hospital, please contact your local community mental health center, which is in the St. Philip’s Parish House, in Bre vard telephone: 883-3955, and they will be happy to assist you in any way. Do not telephone the ARC, Black Mountain. All inquiries directed to the ARC will be re ferred back to the local com munity mental health center. Patients who are accepted by the community mental health center for admission to ARC, Black Mountain will have ar rangements made for them by the local center.
