Adult Basic Education courses will be offered at all levels. An ad-ait may start at basic reading, or he may study English, mathe matics, social studies, and sci ence in preparation for obtain ing the North Carolina High School Equivalency Certificate. Basic education is provided at no cost to the student for in struction or books. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. at Brevard Senior High School. Major Benet Kolman Brevard Doctor Receives Army Certificate Of Achievement Major Benet Kolman, Medi cal Corps, V. S. Army, has re ceived the DeWitt Army Hos pital Certificate of Achieve ment for meritorious service in recognition of his work as Cardiologist Consultant from November, 1970, through Aug ust, 1971. Displaying “the highest de tree of professional compet :nce, tact and devotion to duty n all areas manned by the De lartment of Clinics,” Maj. Kol nan served as Cardiologist Con lultant within the Department ind delivered “outstanding lec ;ures on various subjects in Cardiology,” according to the station. Dr. Kolman is the son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Harry Kolman of Brevard. Honorably discharged from the Army August 24, Dr. Kol man will resume his duties as second - year Resident in In ternal Medicine, specializing in Cardiology, at the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, September 10th. Dr. Kolman attended Bre vard schools and was gradu ated from the Asheville School for Boys. He was awarded an honorary Merit Scholarship to Harvard Uni versity, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1963. He was graduated from Columbia University Medical School in 1967. He served his internship at the University of Virginia Hos pital in Charlottsville, Virginia, in 1968. After serving his first year of Residency at Mt. Sinai Hos pital, he entered the United States Army Medical Corps, serving one year in Vietnam and upon returning to the U. S., was stationed at Ft.
