Brevard’s weakness will be in an individual performer and a lack of experience as only one sophomore figures to be in the top seven. Mike Smith, the only sophomore, will be relied upon heavily for leadership. Smith pushed McAfee through the first month of training before being hurt last year. Brevaid’s strength vyll be in it’s depth of freshmen. State finishers include Tim Brayton, a 2nd place finisher from Charlotte; Charles Sum mat, a 5th place finisher from Louisville, Kentucky; John Grody, an 8th place finisher from South Fort. Michael, Kentucky; Gene Hehemann, a 15th place finisher from Louisville, Kentucky; and Robert Paterson, a 15th place finisher from Storke, Florida. Other freshmen out for the team are Bob Crump, Grady Duell, David Peacock, Ronny Rash and Bill Trepletjt. He was referring to Jody Caldwell, Tuscola’s fine pass ing quarterback, and hts hard running brother Jeff, who are both Coach Caldwell's “It's too bad that a game as early in the season as this one has such importance,” Coach Emory continued. Most area football observers generally concede that Tuscola and Bre vard are the two strongest teams in the Parkway Division of the AAA Mountain Confer ence, and thus the entire sea son, as far as a playoff spot is concerned, could be wrapped up in Friday night’s game here. Coach Emory then went on to say that his past Monday’s practice session was the best to date for the Blue Devils, and he is confident that his squad realizes the importance of Friday night’s encounter with the strong Mounties. “We’re going to do our best to be ready for them, and I feel that if we can contain Jody Caldwell’s passing, we’ll be in pretty good shape,” he conclud ed.
