Yes, you need to phone or write the Social Security Office so arrangements can he made to have your new address printed on your checks. Q. I have been out of work for 3 months. Can I receive So cial Security payments until I go back to work? A. It depends on why you are out of work. Social Secur ity does not make payments to people who are able to work but are unemployed. It does make payments to peo ple who are so disabled that they are not going to be able to work for a year or longer and also have enough pre vious work under Social Se curity. Anyone who believes that he meets these requirements should contact the Social Se curity office as soon as he thinks he will not be able to work for a year or more. DO THIS: Make a hole in the bottom of the box, ^ and place the screen wire over it Put a half inch of dirt in the box, plant one or two seeds in it and cover with another half inch of dirt. The dirt (or soil) should be kept moist. WHAT HAPPENS: The roots will start growing downward in the normal way, responding to the pull of gravity. This is called “geotropism.” But when they have grown through the screen, they turn to the side seeking water. This seeking of water by roots is called “hydrotro pism.” The attraction of roots toward water is stronger than their attraction downward. The experiment has been performed without water belew the box. Now try it again, this time placing a dish of water under the box, so the water comes to within a quarter of an inch of the screen. The roots will grow downward into the water.
