IMHIMI MMlm Volunteers Needed There are many boys and girls in Brevard, Bosnian, Cedar Mountain, Quebec, Lake Toxa way, Eastatoe, Boyleston, Pis gah Forest, Little River, Balsam Grove, iilversteen, and Sap phire-Whitewater that need vol unteer adult leadership. The boys and girls want to be 4-H’ers, and clubs cannot be or ganiaed unless parents offer to give a few hours a month of help to conduct club meetings. No experience is necessary. Trained personnel offer guid ance. The 4-H Coordinator for Transylvania County is Dennis B. Winters of Brevard. Exchange Trip Approximately 12 Burke County 4-H’ers will be arriving this weekend, September 23-26, in Transylvania County as part of a 4-H exchange program. They will tour various attrac tions in Transylvania County and attend the football games at Brevard and Rosman this weekend. Local 4-H members will have the 4-H’ers in their homes and also the 4-H’ers will attend high school Friday at Brevard Senior High School. This is conducted by the 4-H County Council of Brevard. The Council members consist of David Holden, Frank Summey, Gail McNeely, Tommy Hooper, Jr., Beth Burdette, and Joan Adams. Enters National Finals Horsepower, fun power, earn ing power—that adds up to the 4-H petroleum power program, and some 110,000 young people are all for it. Frank Summey, a senior at Rosman High School, has enter ed his 4-H record for national competition in the Petroleum Power Project for 1971. Frank is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Summey of Cherryfield. Frank has been a 4-H member 9 years, and is presently treasurer of MISCELIANE0U5 FOR ADOPTION at the Animal Shelter. Frank will attend the Na tional 4-H Congress, November 28 - December 2, in Chicago as a state winner in his petroleum power 4-H project book. At this event the American Oil Founda tion will present six educational scholarships of $700 each to the national winners. Special Services To Be Held At Boylston Baptist Church Rites For Mrs. John Brown Were Held Wednesday Mrs. C'allie Galloway Brown, age 74, of Country Club Road, died Monday in a Henderson county hospital after a long ill ness. She was a life-long resi dent of Transylvania. Surviving are the husband, John Brown of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Howell Sellers, of Brevard; three sons, John, Jr., and Dwight, of Brevard, and Lawrence Brown, of Bris tol, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Jose Thrift of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Olivine Le Mance, of Six Mile, S. C., Mrs. Elsie Barnes of Lansing, and Mrs. Daisey Wilson, of Brevard; two broth ers, Carl, of Oregon, and Pres ton Galloway, of Wilford, S. C.; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Wednesday in the Glady Branch Baptist church of which she was a member. The Bev. Earl Payne officiated, and burial was in Gillespie-Ever green Cemetery. Special services will begin with the Rev. James Stamey, pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church, in Shelby. Mr. Stamey will conduct the services through Thursday evening and then the Rev. Mike Jamison of Sylva will be concluding the services Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 1st - 3rd. The Rev. Mr. Stamey is a native of Lincoltan and is a graduate of Gardner - Webb College and of Carson - New man College of Jefferson City, and he is also a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theolog ical Seminary at Louisville. Kentucky. He has pastored churches in Tennessee and Kentucky before coming to Shelby in 1957. Jartuson a student at Gardner - Webb College .at Boiling Springs and will*be known as a member of the well - known Jamison Family Singers of Sylva. Mike will be especially appealing to the youth of the area. The services will begin each evening at 7:30 p. m. A nursery will be provided for small children and babies under three years of age.
