First Adventure Center Is Supported By United Fund One thinks of a day care center as primarily a place for the children of working mothers. This is only partly true, as a look at the many different family situations encountered among the chil dren served by First Adven ture Center will show. First Adventure is the county’s only full day, state licensed center, which is one of the 15 United Fund Agencies. There are many oases of one parent homes, where either the mother or the father is left alone with the children. These single par ents must work, and First Adventure provides the place for the children during the day. There are also young fathers going to college, with the mothers working to make ends meet. In some families either the father or the moth er is disabled by illness and nnable to give the children the proper home environ ment Some of these parents are enable to pay the fall tuition, but many are not. This is where the United Fund comes in. There is a sliding scale based on income and family size, so that everyone pays a fair amount. The children, no matter what their family situation, ■all receive an excellent plan ned program of early child hood education in well-equip ped rooms and with expert enced teachers.
