The news ATS satel lite, an advanced communi cations type satellite, will be launched in the spring of 1973. According to Mr. Taylor, the facilities of the Bosnian Track ing Station will be used ex tensively in prime support of the new sattellite. Currently, a major modi fication program is underway at the Rosman station to mod ify the instrumentation neces sary for the new experiments, including the installation of a Mobile Terminal System which will be checked out at Rosman and then shipped to India for further testing. This year marks two Golden Anniversaries of majorsigaift cance to 4-H. The 50th Nation al 4-H Congress will be held in the Conrad Hilton Hotel Nov. 28 - Dec. 2. This year also marks the 50th Anniversary of the National 4-H Service Com mittee which coordinates the national event and arranges and announces the 4-H awards pro grams. SAY I SAW IT IN THE TIMES Gillespie Completes Training Army Private Allan D. Gilles pie, route 2, Brevard, recently completed eight weeks of basic training at the U. S. Army Training Center, Armor, Ft. Knox, Ky. He received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, combat tactics, military courtesy, military jus tice, first aid and Army his tory and traditions. The 18-year-old soldier is a 1971 graduate of Rosman High School. When 1 start drawing So cial Security benefits, is my em ployer supposed to continue deducting Social Security tax from my wages? A. Yes. Social Security tax es (FICA) are deductable regardless of your age or your benefit status. If you have earnings, Social Security tax (FICA) is deductable from those earnings. Q. If someone became age 72 in July and is earning more than $1680 for the year, what months can he receive bene fits? A. He can receive benefits for all months, July on plus any months prior to July that his earnings did not exceed $140 per month. Q. Has the earnings limit of $1680 per year been increas ed? A. As of this date, it has not been increased. Q. Last yean, my cousin got his first job, and his employer insisted on seeing his Social Security card before he would let him start to work. Being a nice guy, I lent him mine since he had lost his card and we both go by the same initials. I know now that we made a mis take, but the problem is how can we straighten this out with Social Security? A. The best approach is for you and your cousin Ijo visit your nearby Social Security office. Take with you all available wage receipts or other records of employment. The Social Security people will then examine both So cial Security records and make the needed corrections. They will also assure that, your cousin is issued a duplicate Social Security card showing liis correct number.
