Rotarians Hear Ranger Dan Hile Brevard Rotarians were given first hand information on the operations of the Pisgah Na tional Forest at their regular weekly meeting on Monday in Gaither’s Rhododendron room. The speaker was Ranger Dan Hile, and he also gave out a sheet of information that listed the various projects in the for est and the costs of operations. His talk was well received by the Rotarians, and he was pre sented by Rotarian Gil Coan. President John I. Anderson pre sided over the meeting. During the business session, the president inducted George Turner into the club. Mr. Turner succeeded John Clark as branch manager of Brevard’s Duke Power company office recently. He comes to Brevard from Thomasonville and is a graduate of Davidson College. Mr. Turner and his wife and two sons will move into their new home in Illahee Hills short ly after the first of November. Laugh Corner The church usher was in structing a youth successor in the details of his office. “And remember, my boy, that we have nothing but good, kind Christians in this church — un til you try to seat someone else in their pew.” “Is there anybody in the con gregation who wants a prayer said for his failings?” asked the minister. “Yes,” came an answer from a man in the front row. “I’m a spendthrift. I throw my money around, reckless like.” “Very well,” said the min ister. “We will join in prayer for the brother here — just af ter the collection plate has been passed around.” A lady came to the station attendant complaining that her car was jumping. The attendant checked the spark, found that one TVlinder wasn’t hitting. “Lady, you have a cylinder missing,” he told her. “I don’t see how that could be,” she frowned. “I keep my garage locked all the time.” Customer: “Say, this car you sold me can’t climb a hill, and you swore up and down it was a good car.” Salesman: “No, I didn’t swear up and down. I said on the level it was a good car.” After taking several snap shots on an elderly Indian chief, the vacationer asked, “Have yon lived On the reservation all your life?” “Not yet,” retorted the chief A three-year-old eirl vi-ited her grandmother and carried in the milk and a bill that were on the front steps.
