Blue Devils To Hold "Parent's
Night" Friday, Play Glen Alpine
The Brevard Blue Devils
Hill face non-conference com
petition in a Mg “Parent’s
Night” game when they take
on the Glen Alpine Green
Wave here Friday night at 8
p.m.
Coach “Jug” Wilson’s team,
always a power in AA grid cir
cles is not quite as potent as
in years past, but the visitors
will nevertheless come here
with a tough, well-coached team.
“We expect Glen Alpine to
give ns a good game, and we
hope that a large “Parent’s
Night” crowd will be on hand
for this, our final regular
season home game,” Coach
Emory stated.
The Blue Devils unveiled
their new “Wish-bone Y” at
tack against Erwin Monday
night, and Robert Charles look
ed real good in directing Bre
vard to a 46-0 win over the War
riors.
Coach Emory stated that
his team will still employ the
“veer” offense in case they
need it, so this means that
Brevard’s opponents will now
be called on to stop two fine
offensive formations.
Brevard looked extremely
sharp in winning over Erwin,
and even, though the Warriors
aren’t the most powerful prep
team in the area, the Blue De
vils impressed many onlookers
wth the manner in which they
carried out their assignments,
their hustle, and their great
spirit
The Blue Devils experien
ced a new birth Monday night,
and indications are that they
are in an excellent position
to retain their conference
championship and enter the
playoffs once more, and per
haps get another shot at the
Pisgah Bears.

Brevard's Offense
And Defense
Performs Weil
The Brevard Blue Devils
regained (their composure
once again last Monday night
and performed like the cham
pions they are in soundly
whipping the Erwin Warriors
46-0.
The win for the Blue Devils
now sets the stage for their
show down battle wth the un
defeated Enka Jets on Novem
ber 5th, when the Parkway Div
ision championship will un
doubtedly be decided.
“The Big Blue Machine”
started clicking on all cylin
ders again as the Blue Devils
rolled up a total of 363 yards
offensively while limiting the
hapless Warriors to a total
of only 61 yards and no points.
Brevard showed very quickly
that they had come to play as
the Blue Devils took the open
ing kickoff and marched 80
yards in ten plays to score, with
big Mitch Burr blasting over
from the one yard line to start
the onslaught. Stan Hudson’s
kick for the extra point was
wide, but the Blue Devils had
the lead for good at 6-0.
Jacob Norman, turning in
another 100 yards plus perfor
mance, put. the visitors on the
scoreboard again minutes lat
er when he negotiated 57
yards in two carries, the last
one covering 30 yards for
Brevard’s second score. Rob
ert Charles was stopped shy
on the two point conversion
attempt, leaving the score 12-0
Brevard, still in the first quar
ter.
The alert Blue Devils recov
ered a Erwin fumble on the
Warriors’ 19 on the second play
after their kickoff, and Bre
vard moved goalward once
again. Terry Crite literally div
ed over for the score on a
seven yard run, and Robert
Charles then passed to Ricky
Salter for the two point con
version that stretched Bre
vard’s advantage' to 20-0 only
moments into the second pe
riod.
Dana Ray set up Brevard’s
next touchdown by blocking
an Erwin punt on fourth
down that gave the Blue De
vils ball possession at Erwin’s
25. From there Robert Charles
passed beautifully t.o Wayne
Robinson, who sailed through
the air into the end zone
grasping the ball a la Otis
Taylor for the touchdown.
The pass for the conversion
was incomplete, leaving the
halftime score 26-0, Brevard.
The Blue Devils picked up
right where they left off in the
third quarter, scoring the first
time they got ball control. Start
ing at their own 36, they moved
64 yards in eight plays to score,
with Danny Walker doing the
honors from the two yard line.
Charles then hit Darius Holtz
claw perfectly for the two point
conversion that raised the count
to 34-0 Brevard as the third
quarter ended.
The aroused Blue Devils
then held the Warriors in
check after the kickoff, forc
ing a punt that gave Brevard
good field position at the Er
win 38.
On the first play Charles
connected with Holtzclaw again,
this time for 38 yards and a six
pointer that stretched Brevard’s
margin to 40-0. Stan Hudson’s
kick was wide once again.
Brevard’s final score came
late in the game when Dale
Griffin, now in at quarter
back, covered the final nine
yards in two straight carries
to score from the one yard
line. The extra point attempt
was no good, but it really
didn’t matter as the Blue
Devils had chalked up their
seventh win in eight outings
by a convincing 46 - 0 score.
Erwin never seriously threat
ened Brevard’s goal line
throughout the entire game.

The Bosnian Timers wflB re
turn to action after enjoying
an open date last week as
they go down to Mt Holly
for a Friday night game
scheduled to get underway
at 8 p. m.
Coach Lee Powell has his
Tigers all primed and ready for
this one, which is the last reg
ular season game on Rosman’s
schedule.
“The open date has helped
us heal the few wounds that
we had, and 1 think the boys
will really be ready to take
on Mt. Holly, a team we’ve
never faced before,” Coach
Pc 11 stated.
n lit Tiger bossman then
went on to say that he is still
negotiating for a game for his
Tigers on November 5th, but
that nothing concrete had been
settled yet.
"We’ve had a good season,
even though we didn’t win
our conference championship,
and I hope we can come up
with a tenth game for our
team to play,” Coach Powell
concluded.
Rosman’s overall record
stands at six wins and two
