ROWE Chief, Brevard Police Editor's note: The 1970 North Carolina General As sembly made 94 changes in the state Criminal Statutes— wrote some new laws and changed old ones by addition or deletions. Since these laws affect the general public. Brevard's Chief of Police, J. C. Howe, has collected the chances and THE TIMES is publishing them over the next several months as a pub lic information service. The laws are here published ah they appear in the General Statutes; no effort has been made to explain or interpret them. This is a function of the legal profession and the courts. (Continued from last week) Restricted Driving Privileges This cause coming on to be heard and being heard before the Honorable Judge presiding and it appear ing to the Court that the de fendant, - has been convicted of the offense of (de scribe offense under G.S. 20 138, G. S. 20-139 (a), or G.S. 20-139(b) or as appropriate), and it further appearing to the Court that the defendant should be issued a restricted driving license and is entitled to the is suance of a restricted driving privilege under and by the au thority of G.S. 20-179(b); Now. therefore, it is order ed, adjudged and decreed that the defendant be allowed to operate a motor vehicle under the following conditions and under no other circumstances. Judge Presiding (3) Upon conviction of such offense outside the juris diction of this State the person so convicted may apply to the resident 'pudge of the superior court of the district in which he resides for limited driving privileges herinbefore defined. Up on such application the judge shall have the au thority to issue such lim ited driving privileges in the same manner as if he were the trial judge. (4) Any violation of the re strictive driving privi leges as set forth in the judgment of the trial judge allowing, such priv ileges shall constitute the offense of driving while license have (has) been suspended and revoked as set forth in G.S. 20 28. Originally, the program was de signed to upgrade the cattle in the county, and it is felt it has served its usefulness. This was brought about by some female students who were interested in joining the Key Club. The new club will be the Key ettes of Brevard High School. Its form of organization its ideals and its purpose will be similar to those of the Key Club. It is a service organiza tion concerning itself with pro jects for the school and the community. A member must work so many hours per month with the time divided between the school and the community. A list of tentative projects has been made up to be decided on when the club gets organized. Any senior, junior, or sopho more girl who is interested in becoming a member of the Keyettes must submit an ap plication.
