The laws are here published an they appear in the General Statutes; no effort has been , made to explain or interpret ' them. This is a function of the legal profession and the courts. 20 • 17. Mandatory revoca ion of license by Department. -The Department shall forth with revoke the license of any perator or chauffeur upon re eiving a record of such opera or’s or chauffeur’s conviction or any of the following offen ' es when such conviction has >ecome final: (1) Manslaughter (or negli gent homicide) resulting ' from the operation of a - motor vehicle. (2) Driving or operating a vehicle within this State - while under the influ ence of intoxicating liquor or while under the influence of an impair ing drug as defined in G.S. 20-19(h). (2) Any felony in the com mission of which a mot or vehicle is used. - (4) Failure to stop and ren der aid as required un der the laws of this State in the event of a motor vehicle accident. (5) Perjury or the making of a false affidavit or state ment under oath to the Depatment under this , Article or under any oth '■tow <retttihg"to the ownership of motor ve hicles. (6) Conviction, or forfeiture of bail not vacated, upon two charges of reckless diving committed within a period of 12 months. (7) Conviction, or forfeiture of bail not vacated, upon one charge of reckless driving while engaged in the illegal transportation of intoxicants for the purpose of sale. (8) Conviction of using a false or fictious name or giving a false or fictious address in any application for an operator’s or chauffeur’s license, or any renewal or duplicate thereof, or knowlingly making a false statement or knowingly concealing a material fact or other wise committing a fraud in any such application or procuring or knowing ly permitting or allowing another to commit any of the foregoing acts. 20 • 19. Period of suspension or revocation. (d) When a license is re voked because of a second con viction for driving or operat ing a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or while under the influence of an imparing drug, occurring within three years after a prior conviction, the period of revo cation shall be four years; pro vided, that the Department may, after the expiration of two years, issue a new license upon satisfactory proof that the former license has been of good Dehavior for th» past two years and that his conduct and attitude are such as to entitle him to favorable consideration and upon such terms and con ditions which the Department may see fit to impose for the balance of said period of revo cation; provided, that as to a license which has been revoked because of a second conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a nar cotic drug prior to May 2, 1957, and which has not been restored, the Department may upon the application of the for mer licensee, and after the ex piration of two y^rs of such period ,of,,revocation, issue a. new license upon satisfactory proof that the former license has been of good behavior for the past two years and that his conduct and attitude are such as to entitle him to favorable consideration and upon such terms and conditions which the Department may see fit to im Laugh Comer “Charlie plays a fair game of golf, doesn’t he?” said one player to another at the nine teenth hole. “Yes,” came the reply, “if you watch him.” “What’d you give your wife for her birthday?" “A black robe. After two hours of a movie on tropical night, well watered by at least two tropical downpours. I was dry as a bone as far as the rain went but well soaked by my own perspiration! So much for raincoats. And, unfortunately, umbrellas are no better. Even a big, golf bummershoot will let your trouser legs and shoes get wet, as I found out the other day. Legion And Auxiliary To Have Membership Party November 13 The Monroe Wilson post of the American Legion and the Auxiliary will hold their annual membership party on Saturday night, Nov. 13th, beginning at 6:30 with a bingo party. At 8:30, members of the Auxiliary will award prizes, and at 9:00 o'clock the Legionnair es will award cash prizes to talling $350.00. A portable TV set will be awarded as a door prize, and the winner must be present to win. The gala evening will be cli maxed by a big party from 9:30 until 1:00 o'clock.
