Brevard Finishes Fourth
In Cumberland Invitational
On October 19, Brevard’s
Cross - country team ran in
the Cumberland Invitational
Brevard finished fourth out of
8 teams in its first important
meet of the season at Cum
berland.
The teams scoring were
Morehead State 29, Cumber
land 49, Western Kentucky 95,
Brevard 136, Caison Newman
141, Milligan College 153, and
Centre College 201; Union Col
lege did not score.
John Grady, who finished
18th, was the only one of Bre
vard’s runners to win a tro
phy. Brevard’s other placers
were Bill Triplett 30th, Mike
Smith 32nd, Tim Jordan 37th,
David Peacock 38th, Stuart
Parrish 39th, Charles Summett
41st, and Tim Braxton 45th.
According to Coach Witek,
“Brevard’s cross-country team’s
lack of consistence, experience,
and confidence was relived
again in Cumberland. Unless
the Roadrunners can overcome
these obstacles Brevard’s
chances for a fine showing in
the national meet are dim. The
decision on whether to go to
the nationals will be decided
in the next two weeks, depend
ing on how well the Roadrun
ners perform."
