to Edward Knox DeLong, II,
formerly of Brevard, to inter

CIA staff officer, giving Mar

“Is CIA starting to spy on
Americans at home” is one key
question in the wide ranging
criticisms. US News and World
Report, 10-11-71 gave DeLong’s
article on THE ATTACK. It
was followed by a REPLY from
Lyman B. Kilpatrick, Jr., form

DeLong is the son of E. Knox
DeLong, Sr., formerly with
Duke Power Company here, and
Mary Frances Biggers DeLong,
former English teacher in Bre

Ridge, Tenn.
Since graduation from Baylor
University, Waco, Texas in
1965, he has had a remarkable
rise with UPI now leading the
new Washington, D. C. office.
Some assignments take him to
Europe. He was previously in
charge of the Space Adminis

Sentiment here is that im
provement work on the Ros
man highway, V S Highway
276 and Highway 280 is long
overdue.
Mr. Whitmire said that he
was disappointed, too, at ac
complishments to date, but
environmental studies and
other factors have slowed
highway progress.
A detailed survey of the
Brevard to Rosman project
is to be completed by Janu
ary 1st, but at that time an
environmental study will be
started which will take six
months.
When the survey from Bre

a survey then will be started
in U. S. Highway 276 to the
South Carolina line. Money
has been approved for this
survey.
As to the Rosman project,
it has been approved and
funded, Mr. Whitmire de
clared.
