New Officers For Little River Club Are Installed By ■ Mrs. George Hudgins ‘'LITTLE RIVER — The Little River Community Club held their regular meeting on No vember 18th at the community center. Gary Murdock called the meeting to order and Rev. Jeaae Bailey gave the devotion. Ray Israel, County Council President, installed the new of ficers for 197% after which the new president; Morris Hawkins, presided over the business. A Christmas party was plan ned and the committee named was Mr. and Mrs. Channing Hubbard, Mrs. George Hudgins and Gary Murdock. Date and plans will be announced later. A pounding for the Owenby Family who lost their home by fire was announced and those who could help to bring their gifts to the church. The dub has made plans to furnish transportation for any one with preschool children that want to get the measle vaccine Sunday, December Sth, at Bre vard High School Cafeteria from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Please contact Morris Hawkins. The new Trustees for the community dub hdd a planning meeting on November 23 at the home of Morris Hawkins and many items of business were discussed. The Little River Extension Homemakers Club was canceled last Wednesday due to the sleet and snow that caused such a hazardous road condition and the meeting will be combined with the December meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs. Carl Whitaker. Mrs. Dianne Pettit, Home Service Advisor for Duke Pow er Company, had a very inter esting program on. Electrical Living Ideas for Christmas, at the Duke Power offioe in Hen dersonville on Monday and those attending from Little River were Mrs. Seva Mackey, Mrs. Ruth Mackey, Mrs. Letha Cox, Mrs. Ruby Lett, Mrs. Jackie Whitaker, Mrs. Marie Brown, Mrs. Gladys Shuford, Julia Shuford and Mrs. Ethel Hawkins. » * Little River Homemakers tibb was well represented in the group of homemakers that went on the UN tour last week. Fourteen from Transylvania County included four from Little River Club which were Mrs. Merrimon Shuford, Mrs. Carl Whitaker, Mrs. David Gar ren and Mrs. Jamies Auttin. Other points of interest seen by the women were the histori cal points of New York City, and an upstate trip which in cluded the Vanderbilt Mansion, Hyde Park and West Point. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Elkin i from Chicago, UL, are visiting with Mrs. Elkins parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Pickelsimer. Mr. and Mrs. Merrimon Shu ford, Jane and Julia and Mrs. A. C. Blythe spent the Thanks giving holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cummings in Hender sonville, Tennessee and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Edmundson in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hawkins enjoyed a family reunion on Thanksgiving with children and their families which included Mr. and Mrs. Gerald S. Grose and children from Brevard and Dr. and Mrs. S. G. Gordon from York, Pa. j We are always glad to have our college students home. Those home for the holidays were Donys Kay Holtzclaw, Marsha and Suzanne Rhodes, Margaret Ann and David Mack ey, Marion and Wayne Miller and Judy Ashe. Newton Pickelsimer returned last week from a tour of the Holy Land, where he saw many places of bibical times. A trip to be long remembered. Visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Merrill for the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin MerriH from Georgia and Jerry Merrill from Durham. On our sick list this week is Jim Barton, Paul Cantrell, Jimmy Cantrell and Harry Kil strom. Word has been received here of the illness of Rev. P. L. McMahon former pastor and father of Claude McMahon. Also Mrs. Joseph Pattillo entered the hospital on Monday for surgery on Thursday. We wish for these a speedy recovery. William A. C. He attended as an official delegate of the North Carolina Chapter of AAFT as well as representing Brevard College. The convention covered many areas. In addition to pa pers and addresses on French Literature, there were presenta tions on the luggage laboratory, articulation jjroblems, Foreign Language in Elementary School, text books, teaching problems and The National French Con test.
