From reports we have receiv ed. the outside walls of the new “Transylvania Community Hospital" will ‘ be of white brick. Or at least that was whatl our informant believed that then brick masons, Gordon, C. E. Bruce. Russell and Randy, of Merrill Masonry were laying on Friday. One back wall is near ing completion with a majority of the foundation walls laid. The latter are approximately five feet in height, with pro gress dependent to a large ex tent upon weather conditions. Safety percautions are stressed by the construction firms. Whereas the typing for this column is still warm, we have just returned from Sapphire Valley Inn from where we have just assisted a young lady em ployee of theirs up an embank ment from which her car slid over on the rain slick highway. Fortunately, she wasn’t hurt very badly and her car wasn’t damaged very much. Cathey's Creek ***■■ * «- tma a» * us News Reported By - Mrs. Ken Riley CATHEY’S CREEK—It seems almost everyone in these parts are trying to outdo the other with such lovely decorations for Christmas. It is just a lovely array at dusk to ride along the roads and see the sight. We were just imagining how lovely they would look should there be a snow for the holiday weekend. We hope all those on our sick list will be much improved for the holidays. We just learned of the illness of Mrs. Julia Fowler at the time of the passing of her father “Uncle Henry” McKin ney and we wish to convey our heartfelt sympathy to her and the other members of the fam ily. Mr. McKinney was 90 years old last month and is a former Selica resident, He will 'be great ly missed by his friends and loved ones. His son Fred re sides on Ross road also. George McKinney of Ohio and his family were called here due to the illness and death of his father. Mr. and Mrs. Courtney McKinney of Pickens also were here. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Mc Kinney of Penrose attended the funeral. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Waldrop were Mr. and Mrs. Mitch King, Mr. and Mrs. Allison Orr. Mr. Waldrop is still able to be up some. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Rogers are the proud parents of a bouncing baby girl, born over the weekend in the local hos pital. Mrs. Rogers is the former Peggy Danielson of our section. We were saddened to learn of the death of Furman Parker, brother to Alvin Parker of Ros man highway. We extend sympathy to that family also. Mrs. Ella Vaughn and family of Greenville, S. C., have been visiting relatives here. Mrs. Jessie Mann celebrated her birthday on December 16th. She was honored with supper out and an array of lovely gifts. Her birthday cake was baked by her son Auburn’s wife of Easley. S.
