CATHEY’S CREEK—It seems
almost everyone in these parts
are trying to outdo the other
with such lovely decorations for
Christmas. It is just a lovely
array at dusk to ride along the
roads and see the sight. We
were just imagining how lovely
they would look should there be
a snow for the holiday weekend.
We hope all those on our sick
list will be much improved for
the holidays. We just learned of
the illness of Mrs. Julia Fowler
at the time of the passing of her
father “Uncle Henry” McKin
ney and we wish to convey our
heartfelt sympathy to her and
the other members of the fam
ily. Mr. McKinney was 90 years
old last month and is a former
Selica resident, He will 'be great
ly missed by his friends and
loved ones. His son Fred re
sides on Ross road also.
George McKinney of Ohio and
his family were called here due
to the illness and death of his
father. Mr. and Mrs. Courtney
McKinney of Pickens also were
here. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Mc
Kinney of Penrose attended the
funeral.
Sunday visitors of Mr. and
Mrs. V. B. Waldrop were Mr.
and Mrs. Mitch King, Mr. and
Mrs. Allison Orr. Mr. Waldrop
is still able to be up some.
Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Rogers
are the proud parents of a
bouncing baby girl, born over
the weekend in the local hos
pital. Mrs. Rogers is the former
Peggy Danielson of our section.
We were saddened to learn of
the death of Furman Parker,
brother to Alvin Parker of Ros
man highway. We extend
sympathy to that family also.
Mrs. Ella Vaughn and family
of Greenville, S. C., have been
visiting relatives here.
Mrs. Jessie Mann celebrated
her birthday on December 16th.
She was honored with supper
out and an array of lovely gifts.
Her birthday cake was baked
by her son Auburn’s wife of
Easley. S. C., and it looked as
