Olin Corporation, was elected
Worshipful Master of Dunn’s
Rock Masonic lodge at a stated
communication in the Temple
last Thursday night.
Other officers elected are:

Warden; M. M. Feaster, Jr.,
Junior Warden; W. Ansel Hart,
Past Master reelected Treasur
er; and Henry R. Henderson,
Past Master reelected secretary.
The other officers will be ap
pointed by the new Master.

stallation of the newly elected

held at an emergent communi
cation on Saturday night; Janu
ary 8th, 1972. The installation
ceremonies will be open to the
friends of the Masons and their

the Rev. B. W. Thomason who
has been a Mason for over 50
continuous years, and he will be
presented a 50-year certificate
and a veteran’s lapel button.

the state Criminal Statutes—
wrote some new laws and
changed old ones by addition
or deletions. Since these laws
affect the general public,
Brevard's Chief of Police, J.
C. Rowe, has collected the
changes and THE TIMES la
publishing them over the
next several months as a pub
lic information service. The
laws are here published a>>
they appear in the General
Statutes; no effort has been
made to explain or interpret
them. This is a function of
the legal profession and the
courts.

14-100.3. Exhibition of ob
scene pictures; posting of ad
vertisements. — if any person,
firm or corporation shall inten
tionally disseminate in any pub
lic place any motion picture
which he or it knows or reason
ably know to be obscene within
the meaning of G.S. 14.190.1; or,
if any person, firm or corpora
tion shall intentionally post any
placard, writings, pictures, or
drawings, which he or it
knows or reasonably should
know to be obscene within the
meaning of G.S. 14-190.1, on
walls, fences, billboards^ or
other public places; or, if any
person, firm or corporation
shall intentionally permit any
exhibition or show, which he
or it knows or reasonalby
should know to be obscene
within the meaning of G.S. 14
190.1, to be conducted in any
public place owned or controll
ed by said person, firm or cor
poration, the person, firm or
corporation performing either
one or all of the said acts, shall
be guilty of a misdeameanor
and unless a greater penalty is
pressly provided for in this Ar
ticle, shall be punishable in the
discretion of the court.
14-190.4. Concerning accep
tance of obscene articles or pub
lications. No person, firm or
corporation shall, as a condition
to any sala, allocation, consign
ment or delivery for resale of
any paper, magazine, book, per
iodical or publication require
that the purchaser or consignee
receive for resale any other ar
ticle, book, or publication which
is obscene within the meaning
of G.S. 14-190.1; nor shall any
person, firm or corporation
deny or threaten to deny any
franchise or impose or threat
en to impose any penalty, finan
cial or otherwise, by reason of
the failure or refusal of any
person to accept such articles,
books, or publications, or by
reason of the return thereof.
Any violation of this section
shall be a misdemeanor punish
able by a fine not to exceed
five hundred dollars ($500.00),
imprisonment for not more than
six months or both.
14-190.5. Preparation of
obscene photographs, slides
and motion pictures. — Every
person who knowingly.
(1) Photographs himself or
any other person, for purposes
of preparing an obscene film,
photograph, negative, slide or
motion picture for the purpose
of dissemination in a public
place; or
(2) Models, poses, acts, or
otherwise assists in the prepara
tion of any obscene film, pho
tograph, negative, slide or mo
tion picture for the purpose of
dissemination in a public place,

mountain retreat has been spectacular,
But - smooth as a millpond thanks to
knowledgeable area suppliers.
The New Connestee Inn is open and
thriving. Its restaurant, astride Carson Creek,
plays host to a constant stream of pleased
patrons. The security entrance gateway is
completed and staffed. And roads are in.
Lake property has been cleared and filling
operations will commence in early spring.
Several picture-book homes have been
opened or are nearing completion. We're
