Blue Devils Drop Close Game To Enka Jets, 55-49 Enka’s Jets upped their sea son record to 6-5 Friday night by stunning the Brevard Blue Devils, 55-49, after the Sugar Jets won the girls game, 47-42. The Jets, relying on the close in shooting of center Randy McKinney, wiped out Brevard’s 6-0 lead and outscored the hosts 19-9, in the second period. Mc Kinney led the winners in scor ing with 13 while teammates Tony Smith, John Benson and Ed Phelan added 12,11, and 10, respectively. Mike Morris brought the Blue Devils back in close contention in the final quarter by meshing seven freethrows without a miss. He led his team with 24 points while Denny Griffin had 15. Their performances by both clubs were lackluster at times throughout the contest. Brevard trailed by two in the final minute, but Enka was able to pull away at the end. Janet White scored 12 points and Cheryl Parrott 10 in help ing the Sugar Jets gain their victory. Cathy Daniels and Becky Paxton both got 12 for Brevard.
