Rev. Booth New Interim Pastor, Cherryfield, Other Rosman News BY MBS. AUSTIN HOUSED The Rev. Alex Booth, aca demic dean of Fruitland Bible Institute, has assumed his duties as interim pastor of Cherry field Baptist church. The Rev. Booth with his wife and two children resides in Hendersonville. The Rev. James Parham, for mer pastor of the church, re cently resigned and is now as sociate pastor of the First Bap tist church in Belmont. Study Course The Rev. Otis Wheelhouse of Brevard will teach a WMS study course “Drums Over Africa” at Zion Baptist church Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30.___ _____ Mrs. Tracy Rice, president of the WMS, invites the public to attend. WMU Meets The WMU of Middle Fork Baptist church met Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Les ter Aiken. A program on “Fam ily Crisis” was presented. Mrs. Robert Chappell, presi dent, presided during the busi ness session. Plans and projects for the year were discussed. Refreshments were served during the social hour by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Curtis McCall, and Mrs. Mike Carver. PoAman Personals Mrs. Hortense Whitmire of Athens, Ga., spent the weekend with her father, Dewey Burton. Guests during the past week of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Garren were W. W. Russell and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Russell of Way nesville and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Russell and son of Cruso. Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Whitmire and children of Clayhatchee, Ala., have been guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Whitmire. They were called home due to the death of Mrs. Whitmire’s grandfather, W. V. Hanes of Canton. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Aiken left last week for Kissimmee, Fla., where they will reside for sev eral months. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Alder and children of Knoxville, Tenn., were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Boggess. The Alders are former Rosman residents. Mrs. Robert Raines under went surgery Monday in Mar garet R. Pardee Hospital, Hen dersonville. Charles Powell and daughter Charlene of Pickens, S. C., were recent guests of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Powell. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Israel and children were recent guests of the former’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Israel in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Raines and son Freddie and Miss Sherry Wilson were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Blackston and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lusk in Pickens, S. C. Mrs. Evelyn Sigmon and daughter Crystal are reported to be ill with influenza at the home of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dishman. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Jamerson were Wednesday guests of Mr. Jamerson’s pi$ters, Mrs. Lily Clarke, Mrs. Pearl Eubanks, and Mrs. Bessie Price in Sen eca, S. C. Recent guests of Rev. and Mrs. Ernest McCall were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lanning of Asheville, Mr. and Mrs. Char lie Lyda and daughters of Brevard and Mr. and Mrs. Voight Earl Boley and sons of the Quebec section. Coch ran, nephew of Calvin D. Frady, Rt 1, Pisgah Forest, has received the V. S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Keeder AFB, Miss. Airman Cochran was dec orated for meritorious ser vice as a security policeman at Tan Son Nhut AB, Viet He is now at Keesler with a unit of the Air Training Command which provides flying, technical and basic military training for VSAF personnel. The airman is a 1968 grad uate of Sylva-Webster High School, Sylva. Lanning and Mrs. McCall are sisters. Mrs. H. G. Stophel spent two nights last week as guest of Mrs. Wade Eubanks in Brevard. Larry Bullock returned home Monday from Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville, where he has been undergoing treatment. Buddy Burrell of Bryson City and Mrs. Ike Parris of Whittier were recent guests of their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Galloway. Mrs. J. L. Gillespie recently visited Miss Helen Wilkerson at Grandview Manor in Frank lin. Misses Rachel Matthews, Marilyn Lambert, and Elizabeth Bales have returned to their home in Cherokee after a visit with their cousin, Miss Lorene Galloway. Mr. and Mrs. D. S.
